I have recently started getting alot of spots and was thinking of taking evening primrose. I was wondering would this actually help in getting rid of them. Anyone else tried taking it for acne etc...
Would evening primose oil help?
evening primrose is normally good for the womens periods ..never heard of it doing anything for acne ..you doctor could perscribe some thing tho
Reply:Not sure about this its usually taken for mood swings
Try Quinoderme its really good for acne
My son had really bad acne and it cleared it up
You can buy it in most chemists its about £ 3 a tube
Reply:primrose oil is an excellent source of essential fatty acids. The symptom of deficiency of fatty acids is dry scaly skin. There is good reason therefore to use it for dry skin but no particular advantage using it in acne.
Reply:evening p.oil is the bast for overall health of my skin! it's rare that i get a bump, pimple or anything bad on my skin.
also, evening primrose oil can help in a great variety of thing that affects your body.
check on the numerous benefits of this with your local health food store.
I take it (1000 to 3000mg) every day of my life!
Reply:Yes, it is good for it, and so is B- complex (or as another poster mentioned, Royal Jelly), and zinc. I also used to pierce an evening primrose capsule, and mixed it with a little aqueous cream, for moisturising after washing my face. It is important to moisturise, even if you do get spots, as drying out your skin only makes the sebaceous glands produce more oil, thereby producing more spots. Also, keep your hands off your face, and never pick, or burst your spots, as that just spreads them. Drinking plenty of water, and green tea also helps, and give caffeine a miss.
Hope all that helps, good luck.
Reply:I had better luck with Royal Jelly it has complex B vitamins and really improves the look of your skin.
Reply:Best thing for spots is vitamin C, E and zinc. If that doesn't work go have a chat with your doctor. Good luck :)
