I have missed this months period which is very unusual for me. I am 44 years old. I have all the usual signs of going to start a period such as aches, pains, headaches etc. The only thing that is different this month is that I have had no PMT (depression) and I get this every month without fail around ovualtion time. The Dr put me on big doses of primrose Oil and B vits and it seems to have worked for the lows but as I said no period. Can these tablets stop a period?
Missed period?
Known side effects of Vitamin B (usual one for your circumstances), When taken on its own in high doses (more than 200 mg a day) for a long period of time (more than six months), Vitamin B6 has caused numbness and tingling in the arms and legs, shooting pain, headaches, tiredness and depression in a small number of women. These effects disappeared when the vitamins were stopped. It seems safest, when experimenting with Vitamin B6, to stay in the lower dose range and to give it up if you notice no improvement after several months.
And for evening Primrose Oil there are no major reported side effects, but occasionally women experience nausea, headaches and indigestion.
So perhaps you are either (eeeK) pregnant OR starting the menopause.
Either way, all the best.
Reply:Let me tell youthat MENOPAUSE is just around the corner thats why you are missing you periods.
Reply:I am a bit older than you, 50, and have the same symptoms as you - the menopause - I'm 2 Weeks late this month and have been like that for about 6 months except last months it was 3 days early and lasted lightly for 2 weeks. The pills wont stop a period.
Reply:i doubt it. there are a lot of reasons a period can be late, and usually when mine is it's because of stress. in fact i was so stressed last month that it was almost 2 1/2 weeks late. exercise/weight loss are also other common culprits. good for you for finding a solution to the depression though! who knows, maybe the vitamins have upset a hormonal balance and it could lead to a late period, but like i said i really doubt it.
