Why does PMS make me psycho?

:Last month I had a *wicked* case of PMS. I felt psychotic. I hated everything and everyone around me. I was extremely negative and nasty. It got to the point where I couldn't even stand myself! The ironic thing is that I started taking Evening Primrose Oil which is supposed to help PMS. It did not. I had the worst PMS I have had in a long time..there was a full moon too..I think that made me even nuttier! Does anyone else lose thier minds with PMS? This doesn't happen every month but when it does it's awful and I tend to do things I regret later because I react emotionally, often very angry and say really mean stuff, especially to my boyfriend. I do not want to take the pill. Is there any remedy that can help me?

Why does PMS make me psycho?
smoke pot during this time
Reply:Omigod! I know exactly what you mean i couldn't figure out why i was feeling so horrible, irritated and depressed this weekend! I didn't think it was time for my period just yet but it was.it feels like i'm about to loose my cool i can't stand to be around anything that might trigger my irritaion level i got to the point where i had to pop a Klonopin it helped me some.
Reply:Perhaps the primrose oil was working. How long did you take it? Maybe you need to continue. Maybe you should start taking it 2weeks before and during and a week after. In any case you can stay in control, you must stay in control. you can do it . Don't give in stay in control. You are man the highest created being. You have a mind use it. If this doesnt help and you just cant use your mind to stay in control then you better see a doctor so he can give some medication to take. Good Luck
Reply:I've had nasty PMS like you decribed. I tried Evening Primrose Oil, and it kinda helped, but not that much. There are books that suggest diet and attitude changes, but I haven't been able to stick with them, and like you, I did not wanna go on the pill.

I suggest you talk with your GYN or a nurse-midwife about how bad your PMS is. There are lots of treatment options, and you might have to try a lot of them before you hit the one that works. For me, it was the Mirena IUD-- a low-dose hormone implant. Try to be patient and don't give up! It took 15 years of trying different things before I found what worked for me.

Also have your Dr. check for other health conditions - thyroid, for one - to find out if there is some other reason you have these wild mood swings.

Hang in there and stay away from weapons!
Reply:Your hormones are wacko with PMS%26gt;I used to lose my mind with PMS before I had a hysterectomy. You can, according to my gyne, take an antidepressant, etc. during that time?
Reply:I was a lot worse with my PMS before I took the pill. Now it is barely noticable.
Reply:due to hormonal disbalance
