I got the Depo Provera shot at the end of February and have been bleeding/spotting ever since and was wondering it there is anything i could do to make it stop. I've read to take vitamin c, ibprofin, evening primrose oil, and am now wondering if St. John's Wort might help because i've read it decreases the effictiveness of birth control.
Depo Provera side effects?
I'm not exactly sure what you could do to help the side effects, but my doctor told me she would prefer not to give the Depo shot to women since it took 4 months to reverse any side effects that may be experienced (which can get pretty ugly).
I wouldn't take any kind of vitamin or supplement until you've talked to your doctor and see what he/she recommends. Some of those could have even more adverse reactions when combined with the Depo. Better safe than sorry!
Reply:Do not take St. Johns medicine with birth control unless you won't a child. I am on Depo Provera it is normally to spot you the first 3 months the vitamin c is good for you anyway but it don't help with the depo. After you get your second shot the spotting should stop. Oh beware you will gain weight if you don't won't to gain weight get off right away. I was 125 through high school and my freshman year in college now I am a junior i weigh 176
Reply:St John's wort is for depression.. but i get what your saying about decreasing effects of depo provera.. defeating the purpose of having it in the first place?
when i was bleeding a lot on the shot my doctor gave me cyclokapron / methanamic acid .. you take it 4days then break then depending on whether or not your still bleeding the following week 3 - 4 days again. It worked for me
