I am 37 1/2 weeks pregnant. Dilated to a 2 and my cervix is soft.?

I was thinking about taking Primrose Oil to help the process along. How much do I take and should I insert it vaginally or take it orally? I have started having braxton Hicks so I know it is right around the corner.

At 37.5 weeks there is no reason to rush it, you still have plenty of time to let the baby get stronger. Don't worry about it until your water breaks...



As for braxton hicks, they have nothing to do with when you will deliver. I started having them at 6 months with my first baby and 5.5 months with my second...

I was 70 percent effaced and dialated to FIVE and still couldn't get any thing to work. I treid it all.



THe baby will come when its ready.

And did you know that 37 wks is still considered premature?

You want the babys lungs to be fully developed first.



Dont risk it.

Reply:Read the directions on the Primroseoil. Taking a C-clamp works to to open your vagina and cervix.
Reply:oh just wait a couple more weeks. and since it's not your first, maybe you can talk to your dr about inducing. that's what i did with both of my pregnancies.
Reply:Have your doc try cervical massage. Other than that your body and baby will do what they want when they want.
Reply:well you don't have too much time left, but i would not try the oil. Sex brings on labor, and masturbation, like having an orgasm, helps the uterus contract. Also semen will make you contract. But do not put anything up there that shouldn't be.
Reply:i dont know about primrose oil but caster oil could work, i took it with my last two babies and i had contractions 5 min apart 4 hours later it is perfectly safe my doc told me to take it and the pharmacist say it ok to take go to the drugstore and they will help you fin it take 2 tablespoons and if labour doesnt start in 4-5 hrs later dont tkae anymore, then its not time, you may get diarrea or nausea vomiting thats normal with that stuff i didnt get any symptoms just labour and a baby born good luck it doesnt work for everyone but you could give it a try i swear by it as it worked for my two kids i never did it with the first child she came early.
