Evening Primrose or Starflower? Which is more effective for hormone balance?

I've been trying to manage PMT and a poor hormone balance for a number of years; I'm 29, pretty healthy and very happy in life, but my iregular hormones cause me a huge amount of distress (mood swings, anxiety, oily skin, painful spots on my chin a week before my period, iregular periods at times etc). I've been taking 1000 - 2000g of Evening Primrose oil for the last 2 years, but have heard that Starflower suppliments have a higher and more effective amount of GLA that helps to regulate healthy hormones. Which suppliment is better, are there any side effects with Starflower and what other health benefits do both suppliments have? Would dearly love some advice on this and any other natural remedies you've descovered. Many thanks.

Evening Primrose or Starflower? Which is more effective for hormone balance?
The ideal choice is Evening Primrose Oil for women of menstrual age for hormonal health some women find it useful to take Starflower ( Borage) as it contains more Gamma Linolenic Acid per gram of oil an ideal choice for those taking a lot of Evening Primrose Oil there are no adverse side effects to taking 1000 mg Starflower Oil. You could also try a supplement containing Magnesium many women like to take this mineral to help with their monthly cycle along with vitamin B6 keep an eye on your blood sugar levels around this time of the month.
Reply:ahh i wouldn't know much about this stuff but my mom knows almost everything there is to know she has many hormone issues. mom me and my sister all take evening primrose so i suspect it's good. haha i haven't heard of the other sorry.
Reply:Hi - i too suffer a hormone imbalance (PCOS)_ which was diagnosed 13 years ago.

perwsonally i find that Starflower oil is excellent for calming me a little and taken in conjunction with my other medication has proved to be very helpful in making my periods less painful and my skin clearer - it may be worth asking your doctor tyo check for PCOS - Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome as some of your symptoms may be associated with it.

Good luck
