Still hurting today! If I do not take it Oraly and only insert it vag before I go to bed will it still cause this gastrial pain? I can not take the pain it produced it was worse then labor with my first child. It was not contractions, it was just like i had a million tons of air in my stomich surrounding my uter. Please help me. Can I still insert it vag or just quit it all together. I figure that if i just do it vag, it shouldnt have anything to do with that part of my body but i dont know. so someone please help.

Indigestion, nausea, headache and diarrhea are all very common side effects of oral ingestion of evening primrose oil.

Typically I advise my clients to poke a tiny hole in the capsule and squirt the oil onto their or their partner's finger. Then, with clean hands, the oil can be applied directly on the cervix.

The prostaglandins in the oil are what softens the cervix and gets it ready for labour. There is a higher concentration of these substances in borage seed oil (although that is much more expensive than evening primrose oil).

Inserting it and not taking it orally will still help. Also try adding red raspberry leaf tea to your evening routine...it is a uterine tonic and will help make labour more efficient when it happens!
Reply:If you feel you have had any kind of negative reaction to the evening primrose oil please stop using it. Any time you experience a severe and negative side effect from an herbal remedy it is a good idea to stop until you have spoken with someone trained in herbal usage.

People often think of herbs as being safer than conventional medicine. Most of our medicines are derived from plants and the plants themselves can be just as potent.
