what helps out dry cm, evening primrose? hormone imbalance.
Always dry cerv mucous?
Try preseed lubricant. It's the only approved lubricant for couples TTC. go to www.preseed.com to see where you can buy it. However, I'd find out why you're not producing CM-it could be something else.

Hot flushes...remedies?
I am 50 yrs old and have been having hot flushes on and off for 18 mths. I take 1000mgs Evening Primrose oil a day which was helping but recently flushes have been worse. one minute I'm really hot and uncomfortable and the next I'm freezing cold. I do not want to take HRT so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hot flushes...remedies?
Red clover is ment to be good for hot flushes and things that people get with the menopause. There are many herbal remedies on the market be sure to consult a professional before taking these. Also have a look on this website for more information on menopause. Good luck
Reply:sage tea helps
Reply:I have been taking Bellergal Space tabs. You need a prescription from a doctor, it's the only thing I've found besides HRT that actually helps. I have tried all the natural remedies with no luck. My doctor also told me to increase my b6 vitamins.
I feel much better now. Still have some hot flashes but they don't last as long and are nowhere near as bad as they used to be.
Reply:Menopace from superdrug
Reply:I haven't been through menopause yet but I've read that drinking sage tea is very beneficial.
EDIT : oops , I just realised that Madge gave the same answer.... so then it must be true. Hope this helps ! :)

Menopause!i need something for my attitude!!!!!!!.........?
I'm 53, now postmenopausal, and I tried a lot of things. The B complex vitamins are good but you probably don't need an added multivitamin if you are eating properly. Omega-3 works well. You must take one that has an EPA(eicosapentaenoic acid) of over 400 mg. and a DHA(docosahexaenoic acid) of over 200 mg. It's not enough to just take any old omega oil because it's those two acids that are the important ones for mood stabilizing. Also make sure that it is molecularly distilled and purified. My friend Karen is a pharmacist and they have done many studies here in Canada on herbal remedies for any number of ailments and evening primrose oil does nothing at all for menopause. If people say it helps them, remember that in studies even a placebo(sugar pill) works 3 out of 5 times because psychologically they want to believe it, even if research has proven otherwise. Also a lot of herbal remedies are not regulated so you often don't know what your getting. According to Karen, they've found digoxin, which is a heart medication, in one "natural" herb medication. The person taking this "natural" herb had to be hospitalized for an irregular heartbeat which is a very serious thing. What I'm trying to say is be careful what you take because just because it's an herbal medication like black cohosh or evening primose oil doesn't mean it's a good thing. The Omega 3s have not had any adverse problems provided you get one that's been distilled and purified.
I know I was very emotional, cried a lot and hardly ever slept, still don't, because of the hormone fluctuation so I think I'd have been better off if my doctor had given me a sedative to knock me out completely for 7 yrs. Just kidding, but not really.
One more thing, exercise is definitely good if you can just motivate your *** to do it.
Reply:The only thing that has helped me is to go on estrogen,I was about your age when i went on it, It is a life saver and just today my Dr told me that Estrogen does NOT cause breast cancer....Thats new data from the breast meeting class he just went to last month.....There is no need for you to suffer...Thats for the olden days
Reply:perhaps you should try cream of sumyunguy
Reply:My mom swears by kava kava powder. You can buy it in health food stores. When she gets up in the morning, she makes a slim fast shake witha big dollop of kava kava and a multivitamin. I also take kava kava tincture around my monthlies... it really does work. A shot is like an instant mellower.

Reply:Good nutrition will help ease the symptoms of menopause by supplying a changing body with the nutrients necessary for optimal health throughout this transitional phase.Get enough calcium. A woman going through menopause needs 1000 mg to 1500 mg of calcium a day. Avoid excessive amounts of salt to reduce bloating associated with hormonal changes. I am 38 weeks pregnant and i am 2cm dilated and completely effaced. My doctor told me it could be anytime.?
Is there anything i can do to help speed it up. Ive tried walking, sex, primrose oil.
I am 38 weeks pregnant and i am 2cm dilated and completely effaced. My doctor told me it could be anytime.?
Patience. :-) Your body and your baby will know when it is time. All babies do eventually come out.
I walked around 3-4 cm and 100% effaced for at least a week with my first.
Reply:seriously you should just let nature take it course. as long as you and baby are safe at the end of this thats all that matters.
however ..............
I understand your excitment/ tiredness and cant wait for all this to be over. so........
here are a few ideas.
run up and down stairs a few times
go for a car ride on a bumpy road
lovely "hot " relaxing bath
drink lots of fresh orange juice
as most people have suggested. " sex " there is suposed to be some kind of hormone in a mans sperm that can bring on labour ... not to sure if its an " Urban myth " though.
indulge and rest for the last few days/hours of not being on call 24 hours a day to feed, burp, change, bath a baby .
congratulations by the way xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Reply:Walking is the best thing you can do. I know of some women that go past their due date and have been walking the entire pregnancy so all you can really do is wait.

Reply:keep walking, lots of sex (you may not have it for awhile, so atleast enjoy it while you can!), spicy foods, sit on an excercise bal with your legs wide and rotate in circles, foot massage... It sounds like you will go soon on your own though... Good luck and congratulations.
Reply:Go eat soem Mexican food...my friend was in the same situation and planned an induction. She left the doctor, went to dinner at a mexican restaurant and went in to labor that night.

Any luck with Vitex?
just started Vitex on the 6th, which was the first day of my period, I've read great things about it, and Evening primrose oil also. Just wondering :) Thanks for your input.
Any luck with Vitex?
all it does is help to regulate your hormones so you may not need it I do suggest pre-natal vitamins they will help alot and one extra b-6 vitamin
Reply:It didn't work for me, honnestly. And it tasted awful lol ;)
But I've read many times it was working for others.. .So I'm wishing you plenty of baby dust ;)

Diagnosed with MS today?
my friend has been diagnosed with MS today.
I was expecting if because his legs are affected, he walks unsteadily.
The neurologist tesed his eyes on 01.08.07 and assumed it was MS because one eye was slow at following the neurologist's finger.
During the diagnosis, the neurologist teste his eyes again and said this his eyes are better.
I have advised my friend to take evening primrose and a multivitamin.
I dont know if that helped.
Any advice?
Diagnosed with MS today?
Well, your friend clearly has a good friend in you, if that makes sense. What you've suggested certainly won't do any harm and may well help. Have a look at the MS Society's website, they have lots of good suggestions on there.
Reply:Diet can help an awful lot. Look up the MS society on tinternet, they'll have some good advice.
Reply:i have read lots of articles that state lots of people have been diagnosed with MS, but have in fact another problem which shows alot of the same symptoms as MS but is just thickening of the blood. they are advised to take an asprin every day and the symptons go. also there have been cases again with all the same symptons but it is mild carbon monoxide poisoning caused by faulty appliances, so maybe your friend could check all this out. Good luck.
Reply:MS %26amp; its symptoms can be caused by infections of which some doctors know little or nothing about-if in doubt you could try for a second opinion-the private hospital below may investigate him %26amp; give a second opinion.
Reply:Some people advise taking vitamin B6 but this is not advised for people with M.S.
They should avoid echinacea too and flu injections. I'm not sure about evening primrose oil, it's worth checking out to see what manufacturers say.
I have had M.S. for 14 yrs and know that if I'm tired or stressed, my sight gets a bit worse and I slur. The neurologist would know your friend was under stress and would check his eyes again.

Is buying an ex council high rise flat a good investment? It is being refurbished with new cladding, windows?
the property is corner primrose hill and adelaide road
Is buying an ex council high rise flat a good investment? It is being refurbished with new cladding, windows?
Most council high rise flat in the UK are probably a good investment. (my opinion only) but you would have to look to the long term.
The building standards have changed over the years as have the methods of checking them.
A good survey should tell you what you need to know about the flat and the building it is in.
You could ask someone inthe building who has bought what their feeling is.
check the renewal period on the windows and cladding etc as you will no doubt be charged next time around. Look carefully at the lease for what are your responsibilities and what stays with the council. i.e. Gas Inspection (CP12) estate / service charges (cleaning, grass cutting, TV provision, drying areas....)
Good luck !

It is bec there was no ovulation? or no egg?
I have been taking my waking temperature since december 22. my body temperature was low, like around 36.2-36.5C.
I checked my cervical fluid and I had this yellow strecthy, about 4inch thing three days ago.
so, i assume it's ovulation. But I only had some yellow fluid which didn't stretch the day before. That's all. No more. I don't feel the wetness or anything.
The day after the yellow stretchy thing, my temperature was 36.5C All right. But the next day, it dropped to 36.2C and today, it's 36.3C.
Did I ovulate?
It is that my temperature don't rise at luteal phase?
I think I lack cervical fluid too.
So, is it that i am low in estrogen, progesteron and cervical fluid?
Do i have to take evening primrose oil? What is the dosage?
What else can i do?
Please help!
It is bec there was no ovulation? or no egg?
It's really hard to know what's going on since there are no substantial temperature rises or dips - it could be that you didn't ovulate at all, or environmental factors could have messed with your temperatures. The cervical fluid you described definitely sounds like fertile "egg white" - it isn't necessarily always obvious and stretchy for more than one day though. Just depends on the woman.
Do you use any software to chart your temperatures, cervical fluid changes, etc.? If not, I highly recommend FertilityFriend.com - it's free, for the basic features, and it'll help you pinpoint ovulation, or give you a heads up if it doesn't detect it.
As for whether you're low in estrogen or progesterone...consult your doctor on that one. S/he should be able to help identify that. If you're trying to conceive, perhaps you could try taking Robitussin around your fertile time - the active ingredient, guaifenesin, helps to thin cervical mucous, making it seem like there's more of it.
I have no idea about evening primrose oil, hopefully someone else can help you with that.
Best of luck to you!

I am 33 weeks pregnant?
and i been reading some of the 33 week questions. and i come across alot of questions about evening primrose oil!!!! what is it?? i have never heard of it. what does it do and is it safe?
I am 33 weeks pregnant?
What It Is Used For
Evening primrose oil has been used since the 1930s for eczema (a condition in which the skin becomes inflamed, itchy, or scaly because of allergies or other irritation).
More recently it has been used for other conditions involving inflammation, such as rheumatoid arthritis.
Evening primrose oil is used for conditions affecting women's health, such as breast pain associated with the menstrual cycle, menopausal symptoms, and premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
It is used during pregnancy in attempts to shorten the duration of labor.
Other conditions for which evening primrose oil is used include cancer and diabetes.
Top
How It Is Used
Evening primrose oil is extracted from the seeds of the evening primrose. The oil is usually put into capsules for use.
Top
What the Science Says
Evening primrose oil may have modest benefits for eczema, and it may be useful for rheumatoid arthritis and breast pain. However, study results are mixed, and most studies have been small and not well designed.
Evening primrose oil does not appear to affect menopausal symptoms.
Although some clinical trials have shown a benefit of evening primrose oil for PMS, the best-designed trials found no effect.
There is not enough evidence to support the use of evening primrose oil for other health conditions.
Top
Side Effects and Cautions
Evening primrose oil is well tolerated by most people. Mild side effects include gastrointestinal upset and headache.
Evening primrose oil appears to be safe for use during pregnancy, but data are limited.
Tell your health care providers about any complementary and alternative practices you use. Give them a full picture of what you do to manage your health. This will help ensure coordinated and safe care.
Reply:it's supposed to assist in inducing labor.....from my understanding the only thing you may get out of it is a bad case of diarreah, which could possibly cause contractions.
Reply:Evening primrose oil is supposed to help induce or ease labor by softening the cervix. It contains ingredients that can cause the body to produce prostaglandin, which is the precurser hormone to oxytoxin, which makes you go into labor. It isn't a guarantee to jumpstart or ease labor, but is considered a supplement to hopefully help things along.
Like many of the natural induction methods, it has side effects, one of which being soft stools and/or actual diarhea. It should not be used without the advice and observation of a midwife or OB.

Any one ever heard of this?
Has anyone ever heard or did take Evening primrose oil to help dilate ur cervix for labour??
Any one ever heard of this?
I have heard that it is a good supplement when in menopause. But never to dilate. Be patient, don't try to start labor on your own.
Reply:I was told to take it and insert one vaginally to soften the cervix and prepare it for delivery. I have been doing so for the last week and drinking Red Raspberry Leaf Tea as well 3 times a day. No change for me yet but heres a good website I found on it and good luck!

PCOS and ttc with clomid?
I am on clomid would it be good for me to take evening primrose oil I've heard its good with cm and if so when to start taking it
PCOS and ttc with clomid?
I have heard that you can take Robitussin to help with cm.
I have read to start taking it the day after your last Clomid pill until you ovulate.
Reply:hi there, i'm not sure of the benefits of primrose oil, but if something is natural it probably can't hurt, also with patients with PCOS sometimes they prescribe clomid along with metformin to help you more, you can ask your doc about that, you can also ask an RE (fertility specialist) online for free about the primrose oil, try www.FertilityTies.com
good luck!

What is better and why?
evening primrose oil or starflower oil?
What is better and why?
They are both pretty useless, however there is some evidence that the active ingredient of evening primrose, gamma linoleic acid, if taken daily does help reduce cyclic mastalgia.
Reply:for what? Cooking?
Reply:(Borago officinalis or Echium amoenum), also known as "starflower oil ",The leaves have been found to contain small amounts (10 ppm of dried herb) of the liver-toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids: intermedine, lycopsamine, amabiline and supinine. They taste like fresh cucumber and are used in salads and soups especially in Germany. One of the better known recipes with borage is the Green Sauce made in Frankfurt. Frankfurter Grüne Sauce, as it is called in Germany, is made from seven herbs: parsley, chervil, chives, cress, sorrel, burnet and borage. Borage is also an ingredient in the traditional recipe for a Pimm's Cup. In the spanish regions of Aragón and Navarra it's also a common dish, one of the simplest recipes uses winter bourages (because these have grown slowly and taste better), bourages are cooked before flowers appear (but it's not mandatory as flowers can be put with the rest of the bourage into the boiling water too) and are usually boiled with a pair of potatoes. Once it's on the dish, the potatoes and borage are seasoned with a little olive oil and salt.
The flower, which contains the non-toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloid thesinine, has a sweet honey-like taste and is often used to decorate desserts and dishes. If frozen into ice-cubes, the flowers become exotic drink coolers.
Tea made from the flowers is a traditional calming drink in Iran. It has a rich purple color that amazingly turns into a bright pink by adding a few drops of lemon juice.
The oil that is extracted from the seeds (marketed as "starflower oil" or "borage oil") is a good source of gamma-linolenic acid.
Borage is also rich in oleic and palmitic acid, conferring a hypocholesterolemic effect. This oil, which has recently been commercialised, may regulate metabolism and the hormonal system, and is considered by many naturopathic practitioners to be a good remedy for PMS and menopause symptoms such as the hot flash. Borage is also sometimes indicated to alleviate and heal colds, bronchitis, and respiratory infections in general for its anti-inflammatory and balsamic properties. The flowers can be prepared in infusion to take advantage of its medicinal properties. (?? ??????? in Persian) is an annual herb originating in Syria, but naturalized throughout the Mediterranean region, as well as most of Europe, North Africa, and Iran. It grows to a height of 60-100 cm (2-3 feet), and is bristly-hairy all over the stems and leaves; the leaves are alternate, simple, and 5-15 cm (2-6 in) long. The flowers are small, blue or pink, with five narrow, triangular-pointed petals. It produces plenty of seeds and thus continues to grow and spread prolifically from where it is first sown or planted. In milder climates, borage will bloom continuously for most of the year.

Woke up this morning and STILL pregnant!! Does this baby EVER come out??
I am doing acupunture, evening primrose oil 'up there', raspberry tea leaves, long walks, and some spray from my midwife under my tongue. Oh, and lots of orgams... Will I be pregnant FOREVER.. cause I already thought I was... I hate that 'oh the baby will come when he's ready!!!'.... that is SO patronizing and not validating AT all. Not really a question... just frustrated.
Woke up this morning and STILL pregnant!! Does this baby EVER come out??
Aw sorry! I am sure he will come out anyday now you just have to wait, when he comes out it will all be worth it though you will be so happy when hes in your arms. So dont stress out take a nice bath, relax, sleep a lot and try not to think about it and it will happen. Good luck!
Reply:Castor oil. Two tablespoons mixed in a drink. It will put u in labor.
You can find it at your local pharmacy in the laxative aisle or shelf
Good Luck
It also gives u diarrhea!!!
Reply:OHFORGODSAKE stop whining. There is a miracle happening in your body at this very moment and all you can think of is how "tired of it" you are and how "uncomfortable" you are... gee, you must be the first woman to go through that. Women have been having babies since 'forever' and you know what? Gestational maturity for humans is forty weeks. There's no crash course, or getting out early with good behavior. When the baby is done developing, hormone changes start the labor process. It isn't rocket science. But it is miraculous. To try to push nature begs for trouble. Try to find it in yourself to trust your body, to relax, and to honor what is happening inside you instead of hating it. Focus on your baby, talk to your baby, be kind to yourself, pamper yourself-you do deserve it. We can't always know the "when's" of life, and pregnancy is no exception. Your midwife will not let you go too far past your due date. There WILL be an end. I wish you all the best, I really do.
Reply:You didn't say if you were overdue. Talk to your doctor about inducing, if it's appropriate. Do you have a doctor as well as a midwife?
Good luck. I know how uncomfortable it is - I had two kids - but when the baby is delivered, your anguish will be over and the love for this child will begin.
Reply:Have you had your membranes stripped? I had my membranes stripped and then went into labor that night. It is a procedure your dr can do. It is a little painful, but so worth it to get your baby to come. I cant tell you exactly how it works because honestly I dont know. Look into it though it worked for me.
Reply:Welcome to the club. Most mothers go through this. My first baby was 10 days late... those were 10 long days!

Reply:TRUST ME!!!!!!!! you want to keep it in there as long as it will stay in there. You still get to hold it, feel it and bond with it, yet you can still go through the grocery store without hearing a screaming baby. You can take a shower and use the bathroom in one piece, and ain't naps wonderful?
Reply:Try a hot spicy meal like curry,it worked for my wife.
Reply:It might be frustrating but it is the truth, the baby will come when he or she is ready to be born and that is that.
Stop, Stop, STOP doing things to rush it along, all you can accomplish is hurting your baby, not getting them born one second before time. If something goes wrong you will never forgive yourself for having taken those things so stop it now and learn some patience you will need a whole lot of that to be a good mother. Perhaps that is what God and the baby are waiting for you to learn.
Look at it this way you get a few more days to be indulged and to rest and sleep. Enjoy it now becaue that all ends once the baby is born. Put your feet up and have some ice cream, relax and savor the silence it all ends when with that first cry.
Reply:You are so ready. i remember being that miserable

You have my sympathy. I know how tough it is especially when it's hot and you are miserable. I'm not pregnant, but currently have hip pain and you just can't escape it! If you can afford it, how about treating yourself to a massage? Won't get the baby out, but your muscles will likely feel better. Alternatively, take a long soaking bath with some nice music playing.
Reply:I'm sorry. That was harsh. I've decided to re-write my answer to sound much more sympathetic.
But, still you need to be careful. You don't know how pregnant you are. Your due date is an estimate...and you don't want to risk the babies well being just because you feel gigantic, uncomfortable, irritable, tired, achy...
I'm sorry that you are feeling those things, but you must wait for the little one to come on his own time.
Reply:I was told so many things about helping to go into labour none worked for me i went 1 month over with my first and 3 1/2 weeks over with my second. Next time you go to the doctor ask if they can brake your water. Or ask if you can get induced.
Reply:AHHHHHH i dread the day, for me its coming in a few months. now pregnancy is all roses but i know, just wait.....i know theres nothing i can say to make that sucker pop, but within the week, youll be listening to a SCREAMING hungry baby every three hours, ENJOY THE SILENCE! congrats, and good luck
Reply:you can go all the way to full term and 2 weeks after due date before you expect to have the baby
Reply:Look on the bright side: you can still sleep all night right now! When that baby gets here (as thrilled as you will be), you won't be sleeping much for quite awhile. Good luck!
Reply:Go back to sleep, and see what happens tomorrow. (Not really an answer, but I do sympathize).
Reply:How far along are you?
That is just an ESTIMATED gestation. I.E. : If youre 40 weeks, you could really be 38.
Talk to your doc about inducing.
Reply:Oh HUGS I know what you are going through. I know you are miserable and all but have you tried sex? I was 6 days overdue and my DH and I had sex because we were desperate and heard that might work lol. Low and behold 2 hours later I started having contractions. :)

Silva Brings Sunshine Home For The Holidays
PART ONE: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
AND NOW PART TWO:
As they left the airport Admiral's Club, Silva was "half in the bag" and Sunshine had FINALLY straightened things out. It wasn't Miss Kitty who had answered Matt's phone, after all; She had dialed the wrong number!!
Silva was rummaging through her purse for the car key as Sunshine was saying goodbye to Matt......"Oh, baaaaaaaby.....I miss YOU more. Yes I do, sugar britches."
Silva:"Sunshine.....Get off that phone and help me find my damn keys.My FAMILY will think we've been in a car accident !"
Sunshine rang off and looked at Silva...."Are you talking about the ones in your hand? Come on, FRUITCAKE....Give me the keys and let's go." Silva would have argued but she was having trouble pursing her lips to form intelligible words.
As Sunshine pulled the car into traffic, Silva started laughing uncontrollably......."You are such a TURKEY, Sunshine. We aren't in Dodge City, you know. Stop looking for wayward cows and gun it!!!" Sunshine screeched out into traffic , throwing Silva hard against the gear shift.
Silva:" Slow down, you moron!!!"
Sunshine:"I'm about to knock the STUFFING out of you, Silva!" The two women, who were quite VOCAL, continued to argue until they came to a fork in the road.
Sunshine:"Which way should I go?"
Silva who had had her head between her legs for the last three miles asked Sunshine to pull off the road.
Silva:" Slow down!! Slow down! I'm so carsick. You are the worse driver I have ever known!"
Sunshine glared at Silva....."And you are very BOSSY!
Silva mumbled......"PUMPKIN head."
Sunshine mumbled......Hussey from Hoboken."
At this point, PANDEMONIUM broke out.
Silva stopped vomiting long enough to yell at Sunshine........
" You know. You ain't no PRIZE, missy!"
Sunshine grabbed her cell phone to call Matt. Unfortunately, she dialed the wrong number again!!
As it was ringing, she shouted to Silva......."I have been with you for exactly 2 hours .......It feels like a YEAR !!! "
She shushed Silva with a wave of her hand......"Hello? Hello?!
Oh GAWD !!!! Is that you , Miss Kitty ?! Damn it!! Put Matt on this phone at once!!!" She turned to Silva...." I will kill both of them, I swear!!!........Hello? Matt? Why the hell is Kitty with you?!!! Huh?! What did you say?! Father Clancy ?! What the hell?! Is this 955-1949 ??!! HUH? Ohhhhhhhh. Uhhhhhh.....
Sorry Father. Yes. Quite. I understand. Yes. Uh huh. Three Hail Mary's...... Gotcha. No, I'm not Catholic...I'm a lapsed Baptist, but I'll give 'er a go. Well....Hee Haw and bless you too, Father."
Silva wiped the drool from her chin as she watched and listened to her old friend........" OH ! MY ! GAWD!
I need a glass of Merlot."
Reply:Thank you so much, This was lots of fun.
Happy Thanksgiving, Silva. Report It
Reply:It was Thanksgiving day, and that evening the Smith family was having their relatives over for dinner. Little Johnny told Mrs. Smith, "Mommy, be sure to make fruitcake, because that's my FAVORITE dessert! I like it better than pie! Even if it is Thanksgiving." Mrs. Smith smiled and replied, "Don't I always, dear? But first I have to put the turkey in the oven and make the stuffing. After all, the turkey and stuffing are a VERY important part of the festive Thanksgiving meal!"
Mrs. Smith went into the kitchen to put the turkey in the oven and set out to begin making the stuffing. As she began to chop the almonds, she heard their new puppy, Elmo, barking from the next room. *Oh, dear,* Mrs. Smith thought to herself. *Elmo is being very vocal, which makes it hard for me to concentrate on making the stuffing. He probably wants to go outside in the yard.*
"Lydia!" Mrs. Smith called to her teenage daughter. "Could you let Elmo out?" From her room, Lydia rolled her eyes, and put her hot pink nail polish bottle down, sighing. Waving her half-finished nails in the air to dry them, she went to find Elmo, thinking *God, mom is SO bossy, doesn't she know I have things to do, things I might be in the MIDDLE of doing?!* But, Lydia loved Elmo, so she didn't mind much. She just wished it could have been at a more convenient time. *Well, hopefully mom is making pumpkin pie,* she thought, turning her attention to the Thanksgiving dinner tonight. *Or we'll have pandemonium, because its not just me who loves pumpkin pie, so do all our relatives, except my freak brother Jimmy.*
Lydia went back to the room and retrieved her prize bottle of nail polish, and set to finishing her nails. *Hopefully this year will be a good Thanksgiving, * she thought.
Reply:I remember my worst family holiday. My little brother Ed's a fruitcake. He is lots of fun, but sometimes he gets a little too silly. My little sister Susie -she's a turkey - a real pest. Always getting into a little mischief, nothing too serious though and I have to hand it to her - she is usually clever enough to get out of it too. While we are all stuffing our faces on holidays she's usually planning another prank. Of course every one will at first blame Ed. He is more vocal while she just sits there acting innocent. My older sister Mary is the bossy one. She's the oldest and always thinks she's the one left in control, even when my parents are home. When Mom asked us if we had any ideas for costumes, Mary shot back with an idea that we all dress up as Peanuts characters. Mom loved the idea that we would all share the same theme. Mary's head swelled so big I'm surprised she ever made it out of the living room. She was supposed to be Lucy. Ed was Linus, Susie played Sally, but I had to be the great pumpkin! I hated it, but Mom loved it so we had to go along with it. I hope I get to pick next time. I will come up with something really good for Mary. We went to the church festival again. It was more crowded this time though. I remember there were people from my school there that did not go to our church. There was so much pandemonium with all the kids moving around to all the different games, all the adults trying to follow them, and all the helpers trying to deliver prizes and everything. Then there was a costume contest. Guess who won first prize! I was so embarrassed, especially with some of the guys and this one girl I liked standing right there on the stage behind me. I remember that. That was the year I got my first kiss.
Reply:ok
My family is the best we always have the best Thanksgiving. Aunt Belle's fruitcake isn't always edible but the turkey is the best! I always love the way my mother stuffs the stuffing in delicately baking it in soo carefully and tenderly. It tastes wonderful and the kitchen smells delectible. Although my 3 year old sister vocalizing the prayer isn't always the best vocal you've ever heard. "Thaaaaannnkkkk thuuuhhhh llllooorrrrrrddd ffffoorrr thiiissssssss wuuuuuunnnnndddurrrrfulllll meeeeeeaaaallll aaannd alll ittttssss yummmmmyyy smelllls." And for such a horrible singer she is one bossy kid.
But after the meal we always have pumpkin pie. I make the pie and i use a lot of SECRET ingreedients it is soo fun to do because nobody in the world uses the exact same recipie that i do. but if i mess it up the world will be in pandemonium and it's not a pretty sight. i had the pie blow up in the oven once and tht was totally not funny.. Although my sister reallly thought so.
We also have a contest to dress up like a pilgrim or indian with our whole family. my dads side dresses up as indians and my mums side dresses up as pilgrims. we Always win and the prize is from our uncle, Uncle jorge it is usually a 50 dollar gift card to a book star because our entire family loves to read. But its near the end of the year and we try to not miss eachother till christmas. because we live so far from eachother its not til christmas that we see eachother but thats our Thanksgiving in a nutshell for ya.
Hope that helped and if it didn't hope u get ur answer

PMS. Any treatments?
I suffer from PMS really bad!
I feel so sorry for my boyfriend..he has to put up with so much
I'm forever crying and get really emotional

Does anyone have any suggestions on any treatments?
I'm already taking Evening Primrose Oil and i'm on the pill aswell.
Thanks.
PMS. Any treatments?
These are some helps for permanent cure
Yoga, meditation, Pilate
Breathing exercises
Tapping technique and EFT
Affirmations and Self Hypnosis or Self Talk.
Reading good books like “Chicken soup for the soul”
Exercise - home or gym
Chinese Herbal medicine is very good
Having good friends
Avoid Spicy, fatty, oil foods
Music therapy – Listening to soft melodious music, Mozart or Handel for example.
Good luck
Reply:stay away from people, sleep, hot baths and music.
Reply:I have found that taking a daily vitamin supplement WITH MINERALS really makes a difference. I tried without the minerals first but it didn't change much, not sure how minerals help the PMS but some do!
I only buy a cheap brand but 3 or 4 friends/colleagues have tried too and the results were very positive, after only 3-4 weeks of taking the tablets. One colleague (who I will not name and shame!) was tearful and argumentative for a good week prior to her period but this reduced to being a bit stroppy for a day or so.
Not a miracle cure but definitely worth trying.
Reply:Drink alot of water, maybe do some yoga or some exercise. And maybe some midol, and naps are good too!
hope i helped

Genetics HELP?
1) The primrose, primula kewensis, has 36 chromosomes that are similar in appearance to the chromosomes in two related species, primula floribunda (2n=18) and primula verticillata (2n=18). how could P. kewensis arise from these species? how would you describe P. kewensis in genetic terms?
2) Drosophila may be monosomic for chromosome 4 and remain fertile. contrast the F1 and F2 result of the following crosses involving the recessive chromosome 4 trait bent bristles : a) monosomic IV, bent bristles x diploid, normal bristles
b) monosomic IV, normal bristles x diploid, bent bristles

My 8 year old Westie has a very bad skin complaint, in places he is almost devoid od hair. Vets don't have hel
He has Garlic %26amp; Fenugreek and Mixed Vegetable tablets together with Pure Evening Primrose Oil. An allergy test showed he was allergic to Wheat and Red meat

There are several good allergy foods on the market. I feed Natural Balance Venison %26amp; Brown Rice. They also make a Duck %26amp; Sweet Potato formula. Wellness makes a Whitefish formula. You will have to go to a pet shop for these. Be aware of the treats that you are feeding. I order mine from www.petextras.com they have many single ingredient treats for allergy dogs. E-mail me if you have questions, I live with a dog who has a laundry list of food allergies.
Reply:Buy a high quality food, not walmart brands. At a pet specialty store you should be able to buy a vegetarian food. And do not feed your dog table scraps. Are often are you giving him a bath? If more than once every 5 or 6 weeks you are bathing it too much.
Reply:Westies are very prone to allergies. What type of allergy test was done? The blood tests for allergies in animals are not accurate at all. There was a study done where albumin from a cow was sent to 3 different labs ( labeled as a dogs serum) that do the blood test, all 3 sent back a report with allergens but they were all different. (Cow albumin does not even have the agents in it that would show an allergy) Most tests for food are not accurate in that what shows up on the test and what actually occurs with the animal don't coincide.
Is the dog itchy? Has he been checked for mites?
If your vet isn't solving the problem, I would seek anothers help. Possible even a specialist, if there is a veterinary dermatologist near you that would be your best choice.

Treatment for asthma?
i would like to know what works for other asthma sufferers...as far as natural treatments.
i take evening primrose and fishoil and it seems to work .....i am trying to get off Advair.........i will always have albuteral as a quick fix.........but i would like to havesome natural long term remedies
Treatment for asthma?
As far as natural treatment is concerned, there can be nothing better than Yoga for any ailment. If it is possible for you to discuss your problem with a good Yoga instructor, you might arrive at a long term solution. Do also keep in mind that there are a number of instructors, who claim to be experts!
Cheers!

I suggest changing your environment s couple of times and you'll know if it is external/environment, maybe change your nutrition intake to see if it is an allergy?
I have found that some nutitional suppliments seem to have a good effect on sufferers of asthma...

I am one week overdue and planning a home birth...?
My first baby was a week early.
With this baby i have tried everything, rasberry leaf tea, primrose oil, black cohosh and blue cohosh, sex , spicy food, acupuncute, reflexology, shiatsu and membrane sweep.
My midwife has exhamined me and told me that i am two cm dilated, i also gradually lost the mucus plug.
I am having contractions very similar to period pains buit they go away and are very sporadic.
The community midwife want to induce me wich does make me panic as i hate hospitals and i have planned a home birth.
my question is:
Do i have to give birth in hospital if i am being induced?
Is there anything else i can do do get this labor started and established?
HELP!
I am one week overdue and planning a home birth...?
i would say yes if your induced homebirth is out...sometimes complications can arise from inducing requiring a c-section, just play the waiting game baby will come when hes ready, dont jump to induction just yet, you still have another week before this really needs to be looked at

Please see this website if your haven't already, its brillant!
Reply:No you don't have to give birth in hospital if you're induced; however if the midwife feels there's risk to you or the baby; then take her advice!!! Hope it goes well
Reply:Hi, Have you tried a good soak in Lavender Oil? I started my first labour with this after midwives secretly told me to, they say a few drops but I put in loads. I thought it was a load of rubbish but at 2.00am i was in labour and had my first child at home. No harm in trying, it may work for you! Good luck.
Reply:A hospital birth would be advisable-if you are being induced-because they use a synthetic pitocin to stimulate contractions and get you into a good contracting pattern-they can also moniter the baby's heart-rate and see how he/she is tolerating labor. When labor actually begins is debateable-size of baby(uterus can only get so big), age of placenta, hormones, ect. I wish they would not give due dates but "due time" because 40 weeks plus or minus is app delivery time, unless other situations develope. This baby may be lying in your uterus differently -size-usually successive babies are larger. It depends on the condition of your cervix-soft and ripe, dilated or no, plus or minus station(floating or head down in the pelvis) there are so many variables and things can happen in a split second! for better or worse-you need to be in a hospital and now hospitals have a more home like atmosphere and really try to help parents have a more natural birth. Please-your midwife should have hosp priviledges!! for your sake and the baby and your other child!!!
Reply:you shouldn't drink raspberry leaf tea as that tightens your cervix not good if you want to go into labour
Reply:yes unfortuatly you do have to go into hospiatal if you are induced i was a week early with my son and i had to go into hospital to have him id have liked a water birth at home so i feel for you best of luck you could try a walk that might help
Reply:i thinhk u have tried everything to get ur self into labour, just relax im sure t willhappen soon, but im afriad u will have to go to the hospital to be induced, its not so bad honey,
Reply:Take a breath!
Now I was two weeks overdue and so was called in to be induced. Unfortunately you have to stay in hospital to be monitored so they can control the contractions. Especially if they break your waters, you are not allowed to go home, due to risk of infection.
Once you get to the hospital, you will have other things to think about and hopefull won't think about where you are.
Good luck xx
Try going for a walk at least it will get you out of the house.
Reply:You know the answer is to stop trying everything and let go of your anxiety about when labour is going to start!!! Plan something...anything...a day out perhaps, some 'you time'...plan to spend a whole day with your first child doing what they want as a way of treating them before the new baby comes. Do something, anything to HAVE FUN and take your mind off the baby. The body is a wonderful thing and won't allow labour to begin or to progress if you're too anxious. Anxiety means stress hormones which mean danger......which means your body will dely labour as long as possible.
Another thing, post dates babies are not at a hugely increased risk....and your baby isn't truly post dates until 42 weeks plus. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE INDUCED! Like any other medical procedure, induction is a choice even though it is rarely presented as one. Community midwives must attend you in labour whether you are 40 weeks or 44! (Yes, it has been known!) Weigh up the benefits against the risks, if you are so uncomfortable in hospitals are you really going to loosen up enough to birth there, espcially with interventions? Or is that a slippery slope to problems, stalled labour, failure to progress, section? Go with your instincts, they're the best weapon you have, if you're tuned in to your body and your baby you will know what to do. It's hard to fight for your rights at this stage of pregnancy, but you can do it!
And I reckon if you lose your anxiety about the place of birth and stop trying your labour will flow.
Good luck, let us know how it goes, this wonderful home birth of yours.

Halal to do this?
I take vitamins which have gelatin in them. I need to take them for hormonal reasons and cannot do without them. However, I want to find a halal/vegetarian option. I found that halal primrose oil vitamins can only be found on the internet and they are very expensive. So, I'm thinking..maybe I can take my haram gel caps..slice them..and simply swallow the oil itself and throw away the gelatin based cap? Would this be ok?
Halal to do this?
if its for medical reasons its ok. since you cannot afford the halal version then it would be ok to take the gelatin version.

Haven't started my period?
I started taking Evening Primrose Oil a few weeks back. Today is the 28th day I should have started my period already. I'm always regular.Could it be from the EPO
Haven't started my period?
yep.
Reply:I think you have Herpes
Reply:Stop EPO and wait 4-8 days. EPO oil has phyto hormones mimicking progesterone. this makes body believe it is pregnant that is why period does'nt come.
Some fomentation in pelvic area may also help, if you use castor oil light massage followed by fomentation.

Questions about eczema?
first does taking zinc supplements help?
does taking emu oil capsules work and if so can i buy them at like walmart?
does primrose oil really work?
and does taking vitamin e supplements work?
Questions about eczema?
I think all of the above work i have used evening primrose oil and it was good. try a pharmacy for the emu oil im not sure where the tablets are exported to. eczema is also related to stress and it comes and goes and also can appear on different parts of your body after it has cleared from a spot
Reply:My nephew had eczema as a child but I'm not exactly what it was the doctor prescribed. But i found these medications a doctor would prescribe you on a website maybe it will help and if i can remember what that cream was i let you know.
Antihistamines - Prescription strength antihistamines relieve symptoms without drowsiness, allowing you to carry on with your normal activities.
Corticosteroids - A short course of an oral steroid is sometimes given if the rash is severe. A long course is rarely prescribed because of the many side effects.
Antibiotic pills or an antifungal cream may be prescribed if your health care provider is concerned about infection.

Where do you live? Some countries have powdered drinks like gatorade. I have found some in the country I live by going to a super sports store. Otherwise, have you done searches on the internet? What about talking to your doctor? Give the cough syrup a try for a few months. Good luck.

I am 37 1/2 weeks pregnant. Dilated to a 2 and my cervix is soft.?
I was thinking about taking Primrose Oil to help the process along. How much do I take and should I insert it vaginally or take it orally? I have started having braxton Hicks so I know it is right around the corner.
This is my 2nd baby (7 years apart)
I am 37 1/2 weeks pregnant. Dilated to a 2 and my cervix is soft.?
At 37.5 weeks there is no reason to rush it, you still have plenty of time to let the baby get stronger. Don't worry about it until your water breaks...
As for braxton hicks, they have nothing to do with when you will deliver. I started having them at 6 months with my first baby and 5.5 months with my second...
Reply:Look all of these "ways" dont' work.
I was 70 percent effaced and dialated to FIVE and still couldn't get any thing to work. I treid it all.
THe baby will come when its ready.
And did you know that 37 wks is still considered premature?
You want the babys lungs to be fully developed first.
Dont risk it.
You don't have that much longer to wait.
Reply:Read the directions on the Primroseoil. Taking a C-clamp works to to open your vagina and cervix.
Reply:oh just wait a couple more weeks. and since it's not your first, maybe you can talk to your dr about inducing. that's what i did with both of my pregnancies.
Reply:Have your doc try cervical massage. Other than that your body and baby will do what they want when they want.
Reply:well you don't have too much time left, but i would not try the oil. Sex brings on labor, and masturbation, like having an orgasm, helps the uterus contract. Also semen will make you contract. But do not put anything up there that shouldn't be.
Reply:i dont know about primrose oil but caster oil could work, i took it with my last two babies and i had contractions 5 min apart 4 hours later it is perfectly safe my doc told me to take it and the pharmacist say it ok to take go to the drugstore and they will help you fin it take 2 tablespoons and if labour doesnt start in 4-5 hrs later dont tkae anymore, then its not time, you may get diarrea or nausea vomiting thats normal with that stuff i didnt get any symptoms just labour and a baby born good luck it doesnt work for everyone but you could give it a try i swear by it as it worked for my two kids i never did it with the first child she came early. Let me know if it works for you melissa24_humphries@yahoo.com if you have any questions after you take it .

My PMS lasts for 3 weeks?
It starts 2 weeks b4 my period and doesn't go away until a week after. This can't be normal can it? Also my periods are about 6 weeks apart.
It's really doing my head in now as it makes me feel so depressed some months that all sorts go through my mind. I eat healthy and take evening primrose oil.
My PMS lasts for 3 weeks?
You might have PMDD. I have it. My friends and family used to have a hard time hanging out with me before my period. Depressed, angry, etc. I went to the doctor and put me on prozac. You only take it two weeks before your period. I realized that this just made me kind of spaced out, so I went to an acupuncturist. They put me on an herb called Xao Yao Wan. It works great!I I usually have maybe one day that I feel a little bad, but not like before. I would say go to an acupuncturist.

Do you think it caused this?
Could they cause this?
My boobs have been hurting a little over a week...i took a test a 2 weeks ago and it was negative. I have just started takin vitex, super primrose, and prenatals 9 days ago...do you think this is just a side effect? has anyone else had this side effect? it doesnt say it is? Vitex does not contain natural hormones. It appears to increase progesterone by stimulating luteinizing hormone release from the pituitary gland. Vitex also normalizes excessive prolactin, promoting fertility.
Female infertility
PMS, especially breast tenderness, cramping, and headaches
Acne, especially if it is related to the menstrual cycle
Fibrocystic breast disease
Heavy menstruation
Side effects are rare. Occasionally, women experience mild digestive upset or minor skin rash
Do you think it caused this?
maybe u should try going 2 a doctor dont trust just any bobdy thus could b ur kids life

Are primroses spread by ants?
I've never heard that, but small seeds are moved about by ants, so it is possible.
Are primroses spread by ants?
You may be referring to peonies
Reply:no, PRIMROSES ARE THE QUEENS OF SPRING SHADE GARDENS. Available only at the nursery. Early to bloom in a rainbow of colors, nothing can compare with their bright nosegays of flowers, so generously produced. They bloom for weeks if given water, along with fertilizer and organic mulch.

Eye cream?
I have a sample of eye cream that is running out and it costs way to much to actually buy a full size. It's main schtick is that it has evening primrose oil in it. Does evening primrose oil actually do anything for the eyes? I'm wondering because I have some in pill form. Could I just rub some under my eyes?
Eye cream?
I would not recommend doing that. The pill format may contain other stuff that could damage your eye. My family (meaning my mother and sisters use VitaShield? Intensive Eye Firming Treatment and its last for a couple of months.

Missed period?
I have missed this months period which is very unusual for me. I am 44 years old. I have all the usual signs of going to start a period such as aches, pains, headaches etc. The only thing that is different this month is that I have had no PMT (depression) and I get this every month without fail around ovualtion time. The Dr put me on big doses of primrose Oil and B vits and it seems to have worked for the lows but as I said no period. Can these tablets stop a period?
Missed period?
Known side effects of Vitamin B (usual one for your circumstances), When taken on its own in high doses (more than 200 mg a day) for a long period of time (more than six months), Vitamin B6 has caused numbness and tingling in the arms and legs, shooting pain, headaches, tiredness and depression in a small number of women. These effects disappeared when the vitamins were stopped. It seems safest, when experimenting with Vitamin B6, to stay in the lower dose range and to give it up if you notice no improvement after several months.
And for evening Primrose Oil there are no major reported side effects, but occasionally women experience nausea, headaches and indigestion.
So perhaps you are either (eeeK) pregnant OR starting the menopause.
Either way, all the best.
Reply:Let me tell youthat MENOPAUSE is just around the corner thats why you are missing you periods.
Reply:I am a bit older than you, 50, and have the same symptoms as you - the menopause - I'm 2 Weeks late this month and have been like that for about 6 months except last months it was 3 days early and lasted lightly for 2 weeks. The pills wont stop a period.
Reply:i doubt it. there are a lot of reasons a period can be late, and usually when mine is it's because of stress. in fact i was so stressed last month that it was almost 2 1/2 weeks late. exercise/weight loss are also other common culprits. good for you for finding a solution to the depression though! who knows, maybe the vitamins have upset a hormonal balance and it could lead to a late period, but like i said i really doubt it.

Stray cats spraying?
I have 2 female neutered 10 mth old cats who have 2 outdoor litter trays, in the last 2mths stray cats have been spraying around my back door, on plants,my cats have magnetic cat flap and one lost her collar yesterday, so i had to tape down catch to have it on open always until i got new magnet key thing today, but when i got home a cat pee'd inside in my kitchen Gross.
I have tried vitax get off products it works with my cats as they have always hated it i used it since they were kittens, do any of the ultra sonic things work
www.primrose-london.co.uk,
www.cat-repellant.info
and will they effect my cats? any help would be great as i have 19mth old who wants to start playing outside.
Stray cats spraying?
For the spot in the kitchen, use a vinegar-based cleaner to help cover the smell. Or, after cleaning the spot, mix 1/2 water and 1/2 white vinegar and spray over the area. Don't use an amonia based cleaner. Cat's urine smells like amonia, so a cleaner with amonia will usually encourage your cat to keep spraying in the same spots.
I'm not sure if there's anything that you can do for the outdoor areas. The stray cats will be attracted to your yard because they smell your own cats. My dad used to put mothballs in his garden to keep the cats out, but I don't know if you'd want to do this, since it would probably effect your own cats. How tame are the strays? Maybe you could take them to a local animal shelter?
Reply:Try a solution of half surgical spirit and half water in a plasitc plant sprayer bottle and spray the soiled area well. This will dispurse the fatty content in the Tom Cats urine so less likely to spray that area again. Report It
Reply:Try pputting pepper down outside in the places the stray cats are. Cats hate pepper and it is easy to put out! For the cat flap, try finding a doggy smell or put pepper around it so stray cats don't like it, make sure you get your cats used to it though!! :) You could try getting the stary cat problem sorted by calling the RSPCA or anything else.

Is it safe?
I am overdue in my pregnancy and someone has told me that taking evening primrose oil can help soften the cervix through releasing certain hormones.
I cant find anything on the internet to advise whether this is safe is actually true except advise in early pregnancy. Can anyone help please?
Is it safe?
i don't know if it will help soften your cervix but i do know that you can take it during pregnancy safely.
http://nccam.nih.gov/health/eveningprimr...
go to that website and it should tell you everything you need to know. it might not work, but since it's safe to take, it's worth a shot!
Reply:IS IT WORTH THE RISK ??????????????
Reply:i actully read that aswell, i would ask ur doctor to be safe tho, u can try natural things like nipple stimilation if u have a breast pump use it that also realeases hormones or gentle sex
Reply:well i will tell you what happened to me. i was due to be induced on the saturday, and had heard a rumour that sex can spur on labour because of something in the guys come. co i had sex didnt i? i went to the bathroom after and i stayed in there for 4hours until i went to the hospital because my contractions were getting quicker and quicker. i had sex at around 11 and my contractions started at 11.50 - by 2.2o i was on my way to hospital and gave birth to my son at 6.12am.
dont know about primrose oil, but i know if you're up to it, sex can work.
Reply:years ago they used to give you castor oil which was disgusting and didn't always work, just bide your time dont take anything, your baby will come when its ready and not before, good luck.
Reply:Babies come when they are ready and not before.
Personally, I wouldn't take anything, even if it was safe. I'd rather let the baby tell my body when it was ready to come than me tell my body.
Reply:It isn't safe to take anything unless your doctor told you too. The baby can't stay in there forever so enjoy the last few moments of the baby moving around and don't take anything!
Reply:As long as your up for it SEX!! If you both enjoy it if you know
what I mean. It started me off !! Only 1 day over with both
my girls and natural deliveries. Good Luck !!!
Reply:i dont know if its true but i heard its using the primrose pessaries that actually soften the cervix
Reply:i don't know about evening primrose but i took raspberry leaf tablets and drank raspberry leaf tea for the latter part of my pregnancy as that has been proven to soften the cervix. if you're already overdue it might be too late for this method but its certainly worth a try!
Reply:There is no reason why you can't take it. It is a good source of omega 3 fats.
However, I have never heard of it being used for this reason, and I think it's unlikely to bring on labour.
Reply:chocolate, hot curries, nice relaxing walk - not to far and keep ur mobile handy. but to be honest i would just enjoy the peace and quiet, your baby will know when its the right time to be born.
Reply:Try using raspberry leaf tea 5x a day. Take it through the beginning of labour too %26amp; it speeds things up... Also having sex if you feel up to it!
Don't think anything works really baby will just come when it's ready.
Reply:I would personally advise not to try anything to soften your cervix.
I always say nothing really works and you little one will only come when he/she is ready to.

Side effects or dangerous?
just bought some evening primrose oil, im 36 1/2 weeks pregnant is it ok to take? any dangerous side effects? A friend took it at 37 weeks and an hour later she went into labor.
Side effects or dangerous?
I would avoid any type of medications unless the doc approves, check first.
You aren't trying to go into labor early are you? You didn't say why you wanted to take them.
Reply:Ok, thanks for waiting to talk to the dr. first. No messing around with herbals, pregnant or not, without dr. knowledge.
Reply:Absolutely!
I took it when my doctor told me he was going to induce. My baby was big and they didn't want to wait any later than my due date. So, I bought it and used it off and on for a few days. Then, on my due date I started having contractions. They came every 7 to 8 minutes. By the time hubby came home from work (8:30 am) and we were in the hospital I was 3 cm. But, I didn't want to labor the whole time in a hospital bed.
So, I talked to the nurse telling her about my primrose. She said, yup that is the best thing to do to put yourself in labor. That and walking and lotsa sex (who wants sex when in labor).
I took the highest dose in gelcap form as a suppastatory (vaginally). That day I took them every 3 to 4 hours and by midnight I was 7 cm. And, at 9:55 am my son was born.
I would have had him much earlier, but my OBGYN was in surgery. And, the staff doc and nurse left me alone as my son crowned!!
This stuff is magic. I will definately use it this next time...
To increase the effect to pelvic rocks on your excersize ball, don't have one...have hubby get one. Walmart has for $10! It's great post pregnancy and easy exercising. Just rock back and forth. Go on a nice long brisk walk. You'll be in labor in no time!
SIDE EFFECTS:
My doula/midwife told me there are no side effects. It's perfectly safe. In fact, it's much better than castor oil. Castor oil causes diaharrea that's what induces your labor. Who wants to be in labor with diaharrea? YUCK!
Reply:The only thing I've heard of evening primerose oil being used for was to aid in the effects of pms. My daughter's GYN recommended it because she was getting migraines and had a horrible time with PMS. The evening primerose oil has helped a great deal especially with the headaches. I've never heard of it being used during pregnancy though.
Reply:It could just be coincidence that she went into labor after taking that. I don't think any of that stuff works..the baby will come out when it's ready. All pregnancies are different too so say it really did do the trick for her that doesn't mean it will for you and in fact could harm the baby. Don't take that chance. I know it's rough and you probably want that baby out (Im 31 weeks and feel that way lol) but I wouldn't do anything that could cause my baby harm. Just wait it out. Good luck.
Reply:Personally I would wait until you hit the 37 or 37.5 week mark just to be sure that the lungs are developed enough.
There really aren't any side effects that I've heard of from women who took it, other then nothing happening.
I suppose it depends on if you are taking tablets orally or vaginally though as well. I know some women do take it vaginally.

Chicks only! Has anyone had any luck taking St John's Wort?
or Evening Primrose OIl for PMS symptoms? I've been getting them really bad in the past year or so and it really effects my relationship and mental health when that time comes around so i was just needing some feedback.
Chicks only! Has anyone had any luck taking St John's Wort?
st johns wart helps the mood swings for me. it does help for depression as stated above but i found it helped my p.m.s. as well!
black cohash helps the abrubt body temp changes
try them for a full month and see if you notice any change for the better
on the other hand if you notice any changes that aren't good stop taking them!!
Reply:I have had terrible PMS for years! I asked my dr. about it, but he didn't know of anything natural. He wanted to prescribe anti-depressants for me. St. John's Wort helped my PMS blues within two weeks of use! It says it is most helpful for mild depression and it sure did the trick for me! Report It
Reply:St Johns Wort is for depression not PMS. The evening primrose oil would be worth a try though.

I am over due and wondering if anyone can help.?
Has anyone used evening primrose oil, raspberry leaf tea, castor oil, or ginger tea to help them go into labor? I need some relief and was hoping that I could find a home remedy that would help me out.
I am over due and wondering if anyone can help.?
I used castor oil with my first(husbands wishes)...... I was in labor a few hours later, however, I do believe that I already was in labor. Sex is a good option, if you stimulate your breasts they release hormones that progress labor. Having an orgasm is supposed to help things along....I had sex right before going to the hospital with all 3 of my children. If you are anywhere close to being in labor, most of the time you will be more so after having sex. Castor oil is going to clean out your system, I was on the toilet about 10 minutes after taking it. It won't hurt to try it.
Reply:Just curious as to whether or not you have went into labor yet. Good luck with it if you haven't and Congrats on the baby!!! Report It
Reply:Take a walk, but I wouldn't go too far, just in case. Good luck with your labor and delivery!
Reply:i agree that you shouldn't try to force it. that baby needs to be ready, and healthy when they come out. besides, bigger babies supposedly sleep better. ever heard of anyone who wanted a premature baby? nope - just try to be patient. and walk....a lot.
Reply:Well, if you're able -- and your water hasn't broken -- try the same thing that got you pregnant in the first place -- sex! Or, if that's too much, try walking, gardening - climbing stairs, walking -- don't put weird stuff in your body like bizarre teas and stuff, if you have never had them before. You might get nauseated, and who the heck needs that, when your baby think's you've gone condo? lol. If that doesn't work -- try whining to your doctor. Maybe he/she will break your water for you! Good luck!

Reply:I was two weeks overdue! I walked, ate prunes, walked again, ate tomato sauce, had Heinz 57 on macaroni and cheese. I tried it all!! After being scheduled for induction, the Dr. had a heart to heart and told me I was going to be a tired, sore woman with indigestion who had to poo* if I didn't stop the crazy food and walking! :) But what he said made sense - your due date is just an estimate, and that baby is going to come when it is ready. They were not going to let me go more that 2 weeks past my date, and I was scheduled for induction on a Tuesday. But the baby caught out and came out the Sunday before. I found that just relaxing was I needed. Ask your Dr. if you can get a massage from an approved/certified masseuse. That might get you to relax!

i did check with my doctor and it was fine. i dont know what affect they might have now cause you are about to give birth but i say do what you have to, but do check with your doctor!

Reply:When I was pregnant with my first, I was scheduled to be induced. The morning I was supposed to go in, the hospital called and said they didn't have room for me. So I spent the day at the clinic hooked up to monitors and such.
Later my husband's grandmother told us about Castor Oil. I drank some of that mixed in juice, as well as loads of sex and within 3 hrs of finally falling asleep - I was in labor. Contractions 3 minutes apart for 3 hrs before I finally went to the hospital and had my son within 12 hrs of the first contraction that woke me up.

The reason cats spray is to mark their territory. If it is possible, put aluminum foil where the strays are spraying. Cats HATE the sound of their pee-pee hitting aluminum foil, so that should discourage the alley cats.
Your pet shop should have some cleaning agents that can remove the pungent scent of "eau de chat."
Reply:The strays are probably just marking there territory so do this get a $1 water bottle to spray the cats. Then spray them when they come to mark their territory, eventually they'll learn. It happened to my cats. Except I was teaching them to stay out.

So tired of being prego (lol) anyone else???
ok so i used evening primrose oil last night(like my dr said too) and i started having contractions for about 3 hours and then i fell asleep....woke up and they were gone(damn it) lol.....i mean i know they would wake me up form my sleep if they were strong enough but what can i do to make them come on a schedual ansd stay?!!!(im dilated 2 cm )
So tired of being prego (lol) anyone else???
I am tired. I am 39 weeks today. I have been 2 cm for one and a half weeks. If you figure something out I wish you would let me know. I do the same thing as you do every night and have for the past 3 weeks. My doctor said that I will not go after my due date, but this will probably be the longest week of my life.
Reply:I remember those days, walk walk walk walk... that is what i did with my last pregnancy, next day i was having her..l :)
Reply:Oils and foods and things just arent going to make anything happen. Hormones cause contractions and dilation, not cramping in the digestive system. Your doctor is a quack.
Stimulate your nipples by rubbing or pinching them for 20 minutes at a time every hour. Dont stop, keep doing it every hour. Your labor will start, I promise. Nipple stimulation causes the release of hormones which cause contractions and can encourage dilation.
I was in labor for 43 1;/2 hours, with irregular contractions, even when I was pushing, it was literally nipples stimulation that caused things to happen, i had to tweak them to get contractions so I could push.
Stimulate your nipples, I promise it will get your labor going.
Reply:Have sex,... good sex, a woman's orgasm can bring on contractions.

If the pains are not constant, it is braxton hicks contractions.
I would time them anyways and see how steady they are.
There is nothing you can do to change it.
Just hang in there, it is almost over!
Good luck and Congratulations.
Reply:I don't really think there is anything that works short of it coming naturally or being induced by your doctor. Sounds like you are getting close any ways. Congratulations :)
Reply:I've been using the evening primrose oil capsules, too.....and I have gotten nothing off of them. I was at 11/2 cm dialated last week. I go back to the doctor Wednesday. I did the whole walking thing and sex, sex, sex.....I am really starting to believe people when they say nothing will start your labor unless the baby and body are ready...I know it sucks!!! (I hated hearing people tell me that.) I am going today to eat me some spicy lunch and see if THAT does anything.....let me know if you find something different to do!! :)
Good Luck and Congrats!!
Reply:awwww unfortunately my dr told me with my first you can try to induce all you want if your body and the baby arent ready your natural labor hormones wont kick in, I am sorry!!!! Best of luck.. just think I have 16 weeks left, now dont you feel better already!

40 weeks pregnant and feeling that my body 'doesn't work'?
I am feeling sad and like my body betrayed me. I am pregnant with a child that wont' come out. I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing works. My baby is over 9 1/2 lbs, and he won't come out. I had to take evening primrose oil, just to make my cervix soft. I get so many darn Braxton Hicks and am in pain alot.. and yet no labour. I wait around like a huge whale that is beached. I can't function hardly anymore. I can't eat hardly, there is no room for food in me with this baby. I can't drink with out peeing, and he hasnt' even dropped. I feel like my body has messed up and doesnt' work. Everyone is waiting and asking about my baby. They are all 'well you had your membranes stripped, it will be soon!' that didnt' work either. My body doesnt' work. I am MISERABLE. I want to sleep, but I lay down and all I can do is THINK.. maybe that cramp.. maybe that is fluid leaking. I am going insane. I am overdue. How to stop obessing, I can't distact myself anymore... I used to be able too
40 weeks pregnant and feeling that my body 'doesn't work'?
i would still see even though you have a midwife to induce you ..let them know what you are going through emotionally and you never know they might just do that..and i was the same like you..and i just gave up on thinking about it and on may 17 at 2am unexpectingly my water broke..i was overcome with joy b.c i was waiting for it to happen ..just hang in there..good luck and congrats..
Reply:I understand completely, but you should be fine. My son was born a little late. He was 9 lbs 5 oz. I had to have a c-section, but he's here, happy, healthy, and I am getting my body back!
Reply:If you are that miserable, perhaps you should consider seeing an OBGYN? Midwives are great, but not so much for more complicated birthing situations. An OB will probably recommend inducing, possibly a C-section since the baby is so large (especially if you are small-framed).
If I were you, I'd do this ASAP. You're only going to get more tired, thus less able to cope with childbirth, the longer you wait.
Good luck! No matter what you decide to do, it will be over soon. :)
Reply:Well if I would have went to 40 weeks I would be on the phone with my dr first thing monday morning saying ok we need to get this little man out. I am sure your dr would agree ask for an induction. Sorry I don't have any ideas on how to distract you. But I will say a prayer that you go have your angel tonight!! Good Luck.
Reply:it's okay, i'm only 35 weeks and i feel like that, but soon they should induce you. u should not another week becuase it's hardly any room yet and plus der's no a lot of ambiotic fluid left. Don't worry it will happen soon **** it might even happen when your reading this.
Reply:Wow. Have they not enduced your labor?
they should have. because the amnotic fluid is going to run out and not be safe for your son.
You might just have to have a c-section!
Reply:The same thing happened to me with my first. I was induced 2 wks after my due date. Be patient. Most doctors will not let you go more than a week past your due date. Just keep reminding yourself that it's almost over. Then you will have a beautiful baby!!! My baby weighed 9lb 15 1/2 oz when she was born. She was a big girl but healthy and beautiful. Try to relax and just concentrate on the end result. It will be over soon. FYI...my second one came 1 week early. So if you do have another it doesn't mean that the same thing will happen all over again.
Reply:try walking, reading books on how to care for baby. have you considered getting induced? just a thought. good luck and hang in there.
Reply:try some visualization... all you have to do is lay down, close your eyes and imagine your baby dropping ... your cervix opening and your baby being born... try it every time that you're having trouble sleeping ... take deep breaths in through your nose and out your mouth... and just reassure yourself that you'll be ok... you'll have this baby very soon... everything will turn out great!!!
sometimes you just need to have someone tell you that it's ok and tonight that's me
good luck and God bless you and your baby!!
Reply:Perhaps you should speak to your doctor about inducing labor?
Reply:It feels hopeless right now, and I know you won't believe me, but labor will happen soon. It may not be today or tomorrow, but baby will come out. My last baby was 41 weeks 6 days before he decided to come out. I know the feeling.
I really felt like I would be pregnant forever.
What someone told me, that might make you laugh, is that you are thinking about it too much. Baby wants to surprise you so you need to stop thinking about it.
I'm not sure how true that is, but don't get discouraged.
Baby will come when he is ready.
Reply:I understand your frustration Honey!!!!!!
But and i know u have probably heard this before Baby's come when they are ready to come .For your and your baby's Health you need to calm down.Keep telling yourself this wont last forever and when your holding your beautifully baby in your arms what a reward that will be,Baby's are such a blessing!
also what dose your Doctor/midwife say?
they know what your going through trust them.

Reply:You're doctor will induce before long. My baby was born almost 3 weeks late....in the middle of August.....talk about miserable. I promise that you wont have to go through the misery for too much longer. I didn't want to be induced and requested not to be...but normally a doctor won't let a pregnancy go 10 days over, so it'll all be OK. Oh and don't let the LuvNMe lady scare you. A Full Term Pregnancy is 38-40 weeks. At forty weeks you are in zero danger of losing your amniotic fluid, unless you have been leaking it or your water breaks. Don't Be Worried, stress will only slow things down. Just be calm , and relaxed.
Reply:Sounds to me like you are going to need a C-Section. If you are late, and your baby hasn't even dropped yet...Especially with a baby that weighs over 9lbs.
As far as how you feel, it's normal. A woman waits on those 40 weeks to pass and then when it comes and baby doesn't, we are miserable. All you do is get bigger because all that is happening now is baby is growing. It won't be long now though. Maybe you could get one of those body pillows and try to snuggle with it to sleep better.
Ways to induce yourself:
Have sex...or at least try to have an orgasm. The orgasm causes your uterus to contract and could stimulate labor.
Nipple stimulation: Even if you're not planning on breastfeeding, go out and get you a cheap pump. Pumping your breasts will also cause stimulation to your uterus and could begin labor.
Good Luck

We have been trying to conceive for 14 months now..?
We are both 24, have had semen analysis - normal, I have had ovulation blood tests - normal.
I take evening primrose tablets %26amp; folic acid (just in case) We both eat healthily, are not overweight and have sex every other day.
My periods vary from 28 to 31 days, every month my breasts are tender which makes me think 'is this it?'
I have been PG before (3 years ago) but i had a termination as the time was not right.
If my ovulation tests came back normal does that mean i am OK? Could the termination be something to do with it?
We have been trying to conceive for 14 months now..?
Maybe, but highly unlikely. What you need to do is ask your OB/GYN for an exploratory laparoscopy. Your tubes may have become blocked ... or the opening of the fallopian tubes, where the ovum enters, may have developed cysts, which are preventing the ovum from entering the fallopian tube/s. Most OB/GYN's usually won't do this unless you've been trying to conceive for at least 18 months. Give it a try for a few months more, then request an exploratory laparoscopy. Wishin' you luck ... :)
BTW: Use an ovulation predictor kit, to pin-point the exact days you will be ovulating. When you are ovulating, try elevating your hips after intercourse, by putting a pillow or two under your hips. Remain laying down for at least 15 minutes.
OT: When you're ovulating, you and your hubby should have intercourse every day ... it makes your chances of conceiving that much more likely to happen. Some say to have intercourse several times a day, which is not beneficial, since it takes approx. 24 hrs. for a man to build up a sufficient sperm count. True, it only take one little sperm to get the job done, but, since many die rather quickly ... it's essential to have a max. amount of sperm.
Reply:You're very welcome Amie ... I wish you luck and a happy future! :) Report It
Reply:You could have some scarring from your previous terminated pregnancy...or not; I don't know.
If tests indicate you are ovulating, and your partner's semen analysis was normal, maybe the time just isn't right for some reason now.
I would try the home ovulation predictor kits and time your intercourse within a day or two before you expect to ovulate, the day of ovulation, and a day or two after you've ovulated since sperm can live up to 72 hrs after ejaculation.
If another 10 months goes by without success, I'd consult a fertility specialist.
Good luck to you!
Reply:Have you tried using an ovulation testing kit/ pregnancy planning kit? They use a urine test to detect a rise in the LH hormone which rises just before ovulation. This will let you know actually when you are about to ovulate. Also you should stay lying down for at least an hour after you have sex otherwise gravity will work against you. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Do you think women would be more submissive. happier, and less moody if we we made them take supplements?
I'm looking for ways to get women to be better under control, more submissive, have more energy, and be more sweet. One of the things I have looked into is dietary supplements...maybe something like primrose oil or 5-HTP, Sam-E, or St. John's Wort. I need to find something to help them remain more balanced when the hormones come around. Is this a good idea? Any other supplements that might help? Sometimes women need some help to have that extra energy to get the house clean or play games with the kids.
Do you think women would be more submissive. happier, and less moody if we we made them take supplements?
I don't think you'll have any luck getting backers or funding for your concoction that will make women more submissive. Not to mention you'll probably be sued by every women's group out there.
The way you describe a woman, it sounds like you've been in some dysfunctional relationships. There are PLENTY of women out there who have the characteristics you want your potion to create because they are HAPPY and don't need to be medicated or drugged.
All women will be under control, more submissive and have more energy and be more sweet if you treat them respectfully and value their contributions. They only become the way your describe when too much is being demanded of them and they are being taken for granted.
You want to make a pill for women?? Make one for men that will make them be decent, respectful, appreciative and willing to share household responsibility with women. Then you might just have the desired effects on women you're looking for.
Reply:Kinda a weird question.
If I need more energy I take a b vitamin sub lingual with folic acid.
As far as moodiness, I am pretty even tempered for a girl. I think if something is out of whack in a girls life she reflects on it during the premenstrual hormonal times.
A woman's best bet would be to take a serious look at her life and reconfigure what is wrong. Maybe she is dating someone who wants to control her? Then she'd feel much better if she moved along.

If you make women take suppliments to be 1950's trophy wives then men should have to take suppliments to be lumberjacks or some stupid sh*t like that.

What would help is when men don't act so completely self-centered, superior and insensitive .Another thing that helps is when their man can just accept the fact that they are a woman and have a mind and their own opinions and are not submissive cleaning machines and kid factories.
I get a little tired of Men acting like they are the ones suffering from their wife's PMS. The woman is the one who is suffering and you just need to try to understand that she is in pain, uncomfortable and will get easily frustrated when Men are around having a pain-free carefree day and saying totally thoughtless, selfish, men things.
Just remember that you men would be totally worse if they had periods. As it is now, they have to make a big production over a paper-cut or any minor owie.
