Pregnant...Evening Primrose Oil question?

I don't want to hear any grumpy people telling me I am horrible and that I want to induce my labor early, because I DON'T. I am just wondering if any of you have any experience with taking Evening Primrose Oil either orally or rubbed on your cervix, and if it helped move anything along or not. I talked to someone that goes to my OBGYN who says she tried it and worked, but I doubted it a little. If you did take it, when did you start, how much did you take and did it help anything? Im still only 34 weeks, still too early I would imagine, but am curious. Thanks! =)

Pregnant...Evening Primrose Oil question?
I took it orally to soften my cervix, I don't know if it helped. My daughter was still 13 days late. I can't remember how much I took, but it was a good amount. I would wait until you're closer to 40 weeks, you don't want to induce too early.

Good luck!!
Reply:It really only called for in instances where you think youll be late...or that being late would a problem...like if you are carrying a colossol sized baby or something along those lines...the best way to use it is a cervical suppository...i think they make gel-tabs....insert one at bed time starting at week 38 and it is supposed to 'soften' the cervix. I personally never had occasion to try it...good luck
Reply:It's not a good idea to be administering anything to yourself - this includes naturopathic extracts - without talking to a doctor first.
Reply:I am currently using it started about a week and a half ago was at one last week.. not sure if there has been any progress or not seeing I do not see my doc til the 16th
Reply:weeks is way too early and even if you do go into labor now, they will stop you. everything you hear about starting labor early is just old wives tales. nothing will help and some of them are dangerous.
Reply:I have never heard about Evening Primrose Oil.

I tried the Castor oil... didn't work. I also had my cervix stretched... didn't work either.
Reply:Never heard of the Evening primrose oil, but my midwife advised me to drink Raspberry tea or eat pineapple at around 38 weeks

( not earlier ).

These supposed to contain something to start contractions .

I didnt as i didnt want things to go wrong in any way .
