Is there anything to help encourage ovulation?

I am taking Evening Primrose Oil capsules. My doctor doesn't approve of Clomid so won't prescribe it for me and I just want to ovulate!! I've been having very irregular periods anyway and have been off the pill for 5 months now. My boyfriend and I are TTC at the moment but don't see eachother a lot as we're both busy and working away sometimes.

Is there anything to help encourage ovulation?
Soy isoflavones taken 5 days early in your cycle--days 5-9, will act like clomid and usually induces ovulation. You can buy them over the counter. Start with 80mg each night for 5 days.
Reply:Hi there, ttc for 3 months, been off the pill for 10 months and only now started to experience problems- no period for 2 months. I have done some research on the net and found some herbs that could help with ovulation etc. Here some of them:

black cohosh- relieves cramping %26amp; stimulates the ovaries- tried this herbs but it gave me cramps and felt really ill on it. But could work for you.

dong quai- hormone regulator

evening primrose oil- improves fertile cervical fuild- i'm using this aswell

red raspberry leaf- strengthens uterine lining

agnus castus- balancing effect on the pituitary gland - using this 2 times a day, only started taking it so couldnt comment on how good it is until I fall pregrant.

Also people say green tea is good too.

Hope this has helped %26amp; everything works out ok for you and your partner. x
Reply:as youve only been trying 5 months, i reckon your dr just didnt want to give it too you so soon, give it a few more months and see what happens.

in the mean time you should start getting as healthy as you can therefour boosting your fertilly like stop drinking, smoking if you do and eat more healthy too.and im sure a website like babycentre has tips on boosting your fertilly

if nothing still happens you need to o back to the dr if you are still having irregular periods it could be something like polysistic ovarys (although im no dr) ask to be refered to a gynocolost at the hospital (your dr can't just prescribe clomid without proper tests) they will have to give you and your partner checks and stuff then you get clomid

give it 6 more months of properly trying, try to write when you have your periods, how long ect and see if there is any pattern (if you do need to go to see they gyno this will be very helpful) it also sounds like you need to set proper times aside for bms (making making se* too!)

good luck xx
Reply:You need to fine yourself a new Dr. A Dr shouldn't be running his practice on his beliefs. If you have been trying to conceieve for more than a year...then you need to get tested and see what's wrong. You need to get your periods regulated, and get ovulating.
Reply:It sounds like you don't have time to have a baby.
Reply:Try folic acid together with evening primose oil...both of you have to feel relax when doing... don't just do because of getting a baby. Be sure to feel relax.. seems like both of you are workacholic.
Reply:Yes, you can have something natural called VITEX, buy it in a natural store. Now, do take EPO but just the first 14 days of your cycle, or until you ovulate. The second half drink a lot of pineapple juice. Avoid caffeine, cigarrete and alcochol. Also the damiana de california tea enchances ovulation (as the vitex), also first half of your cycle. Good luck!!!
Reply:The only way I know helps to conceive naturally is to have an orgasm after him. as far as herbs go be careful. It takes a little while for your hormones to get back in wack after you stop birth control. Plus it takes a few times. Have fun with it, it's still early.
Reply:It sounds to me as thought your Doctor is advising you to wait while your periods settle into their cycle. If you're experiencing irregular cycles this could be just down to the fact that you have only been off the pill for 5 months. He will not prescribe clomid so soon after coming off the pill. Let your body adjust and if you;ve had no luck conceiving after another 5 months then talk to your Doctor again and he will do more investigations then I should think.
Reply:You need to regulate the hormones responsible for regular ovulation.

Infertility is a general term when there is a failiure to conceive after 18 months of regular, unprotected sex - it has only been 5 months since you have come off the Pill, so your doctor probably would be reluctant to prescribe fertility drugs!

My husband and I took 2 years to conceive our daughter.

As you and your husband don't see a lot of each other regular sex may not be happening - the more sex you have the better the chances.

Increasing your intake of fatty acids will help stimulate the production of sex hormones;

oily fish, fish liver oils, seeds, nuts, pulses, beans, evening primrose oil, unrefined vegetable oils.

Zinc deficiency has been linked to infertility.

Eat plenty of whole foods rich in vitamins and minerals - this will keep both the sperm and egg healtrhy and provide a good environment for the embryo to grow in.

Good nutrition increases the chances of conception.

HERBALISM;

Agnus castus is an hormone regulator and will help with irregular periods.
