Help with Shade Plantings?

I am planning to plant a garden in the shady area around the back of my house which will include primrose and lily of the valley. I also wanted to use some ground coverings and was looking at Cyclamen and Tradescantia. Can I plant both of these (since they bloom at different times) or will one choke the other one out? And if I have to chose, which is more managable - in other words, more containable?

Help with Shade Plantings?
Both are great, plant them a little farther apart to keep seperate. Blooming at different times promises more variety and a longer "window" of blooms. Hostas and impatiens are also nice and tolerate shade well.
Reply:both are good
Reply:We have planted hostas and have great luck. Be careful though, as there are many varieties and once you buy one, it becomes an addiction.

Does evening primrose oil really help PMS?

I am 43 years old, and I used to lose at least 1 day a month from work because of sever PMS... Not to mention, I made my whole family's life a living HELL! Not only was I suffering from PMS, but I am also pre-menopausal as well! Hot flashes, you name it! I was introduced to an all natural wellness system by a friend of mine, and since I have been using it, the PMS and Hot Flashes are COMPLETELY GONE!

I don't know about primrose oil, but if you have cramps, a heating pad that you plug in helps a lot.

When can i plant out primroses that i just brought from garden centre?

You can do it now. Primroses (primulas) come up year after year and are used to chilly weather.

When can i plant out primroses that i just brought from garden centre?
you can plant them out now , primroses and primulas are very hardy in my garden they stay out all the time summer and winter (UK) they never seem to worry about frost or snow every spring when I see that they are getting bigger I take a sharp knife cut them in half and then I have another plant they just keep going.

they dont need any special treatment just enjoy them.
Reply:If they have been grown in colder temperatures, that is if they have been hardened off, they can go out now.......assuming your garden isn't ice or buried under snow. If so, keep the plant in a sunny window, cool temperatures!! and plant out when the weather isn't as extreme.
Reply:You can plant now. It is a good idea to lift then out of where you plant in winter/spring and place them in a different spot for the summer [in the shade] Then next Autumn plant them back again and they will flower again for you. If they like your soil and conditions they will last for years. Good luck
Reply:Yes, now, if you're in UK, though it'd be best to protect them until all risk of frost has passed. For future reference, it's dead easy just to get a packet of seed and random sow it. Once established they self-seed beautifully.
Reply:if the garden centre is selling a plant now, you can plant it now.

PS most plants come with a label that has the instructions written on
Reply:What is your elevation? I'm at 3000 ft and we don't plant in any month that has an "R" in it.

My store is also selling Primroses, I have them in the house and will plant later
Reply:Now should be fine if you've just bought them. I'd listen to the weather reports to make sure your area is not in for a frost. If so, make sure you protect the plants from freezing.

How can I get rid of mind-your-own-business?

My garden is being taken over and I can't rake it out without disturbing my wild primroses. Is there such a thing as a selective weedkiller that won't harm the primroses or my oak tree.

How can I get rid of mind-your-own-business?
I am an antipoison person. I bought a house and also had an overgrown garden with things I wanted and didnt want. Answer...labor. I used a handshovel and dug up all the ground around. I left the plants I wanted but dug deep around them. After I got the soil loose, I mulched the whole area about 6 inches deep around the plants I wanted and 8 inches deep where the weeds had taken over. No need to buy expensive mulch...almost anything will do. Shredded leaves from the trees, old tree bark, rot from decomposing trees in the woods, pine needles, almost any of this will do if you have this stuff available. Shredded oak leaves make a beautiful mulch. For about $30 you can buy a leaf suckerupper than mulches and shreds at the same time. Weedkillers really arent all that selective. You may poison the ground and then find that new plants that you put in will die.
Reply:Use a product like Roundup, but don't spray it on. Pour some in a cup and dip the leaves or use a paintbrush on just the parts you want to get rid of. The leaves absorb the chemical and it kills the plant at the roots. Make sure it doesn't drip on what you want to keep.
Reply:I know my Dad used to use "Spectracide", found in nurseries, but I don't know about the harmful effects on the plants you mentioned. I would ask a nursery.

Black and blue cohosh evening primrose oil, and castor oil exsperiences?

if u havent tried this please dont comment....thats nice if some people have had painless pregnancys that went past term but im miserable lol...please exsperiances only...and details pleaseee....how many weeks were u?....how long did it take? stuff like that...thanks ladies

Black and blue cohosh evening primrose oil, and castor oil exsperiences?
I tried Black Cohosh and it did give me contractions, but nothing strong enough to bring on labor-still trying it a little but I'm backing off on it because I don't want to hurt the baby. Evening Primrose used as a suppository seemed to soften my cervix a bit and the baby has started to move down a lot. I tried Castor Oil too and OH MY GOD, it was HORRIBLE! Not only didn't it work, but it was the nastiest stuff EVER! I'm 40 weeks exactly. One thing that I noticed that has seemed to make a difference is eating raw pineapple followed by Dole Pineapple juice. You're supposed to eat 3 entire pineapples and then a glass of the juice every hour. It has been bringing on stronger contractions and it won't hurt the baby.
Reply:i took castor oil on my original due date i will never ever do that again i had such bad contractions for 4 days it was horrible i was in and out of the hospital it hurt so bad i was in labor just not progressing it was not worth it believe me just let nature run its course it will happen sex makes it happen faster too
Reply:Please don't take the cohosh, it can be dangerous even late in pregnancy (the original reason for taking it was to induce abortions early on).

As for the castor oil, I just had horrible diarrhea and abdominal cramping. It didn't help at all and I wouldn't ever try it again. It made me feel more miserable (if that was possible).

The primrose oil I also took and I think that it helped to soften my cervix a bit, I started taking it at 38 weeks. I don't know that it made me go into labor any faster but once I did having softened up a bit helped.

TTC - Evenign Primrose Oil?

This might sound stupid. But I am trying to get pregnant and just heard about this: Evening Primrose Oil. But, I don't understand what it is or why it would help get me pregnant. And where can I purchase this. Any info on this would be great.

TTC - Evenign Primrose Oil?
Evening Primrose Oil is the oil derived from a North American wildflower called Evening Primrose. Evening Primrose is not really a primrose, but it gets its name from that flower because the plant looked similar to an English Primrose. The oil is rich in Vitamin E just like olives and nuts are. In addition, evening primrose oil also has gamma linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid. People that have difficulty creating in this fatty acid in their own bodies can benefit from its use.

The Europeans were one of the first to make it popular. They brought it back to their native soil and crowned this oil a "King's cure-all" because of its many useful properties that can cure a large number of diseases. In England, the oil is approved for use with eczema and high cholesterol. In women, it can especially be helpful for relieving breast pain, menstrual pains and improving the quality and fertility of cervical mucus.

Evening Primrose Oil or EPO helps women to produce more fertile quality cervical fluid also known as "egg white cervical mucus". This type of cervical fluid is fertile, thin, watery, clear and "stretchy" and easily aids the sperm to swim through the uterus and into the fallopian tube, and to the egg. Also, this type of fluid helps the sperm to stay alive for up to five days inside the fallopian tube, thus enabling conception to happen even if you don't have intercourse again by the time ovulation occurs.

If your cervical fluid is thick, brown or dry, it can obstruct or prevent fertilization. Some women are very dry, and have problems in producing an adequate amount of fertile quality cervical fluid. Drinking a lot of water and taking the Evening Primrose Oil or EPO can certainly help in the production of fertile cervical fluid in these women.
Reply:Agree with the first answer. But remember, if you're taking it to TTC then don't take it after Ovulation.
Reply:Ok, I have heard of this, even purchased it ( Walgreens, GNC) But before you think about purchasing, you should talk to your doctor. I have a link that I will give below. Please-Please read all the info, and talk with your doctor. The safer route then EPO is a multivitamin, A natural omega 3 fish oil (ask at Gnc or Walgreens for the most natural form) , and 2 capsules of Fertility Blend for women. 1 of each of the others. I asked My obgyn. He aslo said that taking pre-nates will be very benificial, but you need to speak with your doctor.

Good luck to you, I hope this helped. :)

What are some signs that labor is coming up?

I am 38.5 weeks pregnant and SO ready to have my baby. I am using Evening Primrose Oil twice a day and walking. What else can I do???

What are some signs that labor is coming up?
Stimulating your nipples can also get things going. Not to be too graphic, but if you can get your man to suck them, it works better. Be careful with the oils. You don't want to give yourself the runs. Don't wear yourself out. It's really best if you let it happen naturally so your baby has time to really get into position.

Good Luck!
Reply:Have sex. I've heard of drinking castrol oil, its supose to induce you or something like that. Or something that gets your "juices flowing" its supose to help too.

Primrose oil??

Ok so I'm 37 weeks pregnant and had a doctors appointment today....I've not progressed from 1 cm and 40% effaed in like 4 weeks. So my doctor said to get Primrose oil and poke a hole in it and then squirt it into my vagina twice a day. Has anyone had any experience with this stuff and does it help any at all??? Just wanting personal experience here not smart *** comments!! Thanks!!

Primrose oil??
Evening primrose oil is good for getting things going in late pregnancy, but you are only 37 weeks. It is way too early to be forcing things on, for many reasons but the biggest is that if you are not on the brink of going into labour, then it is not going to work!

You are not supposed to progress in effacement and or dilation until you are in labour...that's the way it goes, being effaced and 1cm will probably be the way it remains til you go into labour in about 3 weeks.

Babies come when they are ready...if you are over 40 weeks and no baby, try the EPO (which by the way is not effective unless it is applied onto the cervix).

Enjoy these last few weeks and have a joyous birth :)
Reply:I've never heard iof it but if your doc told you that it must be ok. Call another obgyn and ask if they have ever heard of using it that way.
Reply:Evening Primrose has long been known to help with various feminine complaints, look in a good herbal or ask an herbalist to explain its qualities to you.
Reply:ok.. I'm so glad you posted this before you've done it.

I did this with my 3rd pregnancy, I put holes in the capsules and put them up near my cervix, about the 4th night I did it I had a placental abruption and my baby was in danger. EPO thins out your blood.. I will never know if that is why it happened, but I would never recommend it to anyone.

Evening primrose.?

Every month when i have a period i get really panicky and have been told this is due to hormone changes, has anyone tried evening primrose for pmt and did this help you, or have you tried anything else to help this feeling of panic.

Evening primrose.?
Evening Primrose oil is good but I would also try to reduce your stress level, take a nice relaxing bath, take an exercise class (Zumba) is the rage right now, try some yoga, get a massage. Make sure eat a healthy nutritious diet (organic when you can) %26amp; don't skip meals...
Reply:My mum used evening primrose capsules for years (still uses them I think) and my step sister uses them too for pms and as far as I am aware they work wonders. I think it does take a few weeks for them to start working though. You could try something like Kalms or Rescue Remedy for when you are really bad. I have tried them before and they worked. I was told that it was all in my head that they worked but really if they work for you then what does it matter!

Good luck, you have my sympathy, I know what bad pms is like!
Reply:i have been using evening primrose oil capsules for an age, since before i started my periods, they have always done wonders for my stress levels, if you have any worries ask to see a pharmacist at your local chemist, they will always be happy to help...

the only other thing i can suggest is either a hot water bottle and some comfort food i.e. chocolate.

or some stuff called rescue remedy, it is made of god knows how many herbs and other plants, that are well known for aiding in relaxation,.

hope this has helped

good luck, Sara
Reply:evening primrose is an oil and should be mixed with some aromotherapy essential oils to ease the menstrural pains like Clary Sage (not if pregnant or about to), Lavender.

Primrose Oil?

What is Primrose oil %26amp; how does it help conceive?%26amp; what is preseed for ? Sorry two ?'s in one I'm just looking into my options to TTC. Thanks

Primrose Oil?
How does Evening Primrose Oil help you in getting pregnant?

Evening Primrose Oil or EPO lowers cholesterol, helps to alleviate premenstrual syndrome symptoms and aids in the production of fertile quality cervical fluid. Evening Primrose Oil or EPO does a world of good in treating aliments of all sorts. Evening Primrose Oil or EPO is an essential fatty acid that contains gamma linolenic acid (GLA). This gamma linolenic acid (GLA) is converted to a hormone-like substance called prostaglandin E1 which has anti-inflammatory properties and may also act as a blood thinner and blood vessel dilator. These anti-inflammatory properties of evening primrose oil help people suffering from pains, aches and cramps.

Evening Primrose Oil or EPO also has effects on premenstrual syndrome symptoms and cervical mucus. If you suffer from premenstrual syndrome, it could be because you are deficient in the fatty acid, gamma linolenic acid (GLA). Evening Primrose Oil or EPO can help your body to alleviate the premenstrual syndrome symptoms by replacing the gamma linolenic acid (GLA).

Pre-seed- It's the only lubricant that doesn't harm sperm so it's the only one you can safely use when TTC. Many women have reported success when using this TTC so I guess there's no harm in trying this out?!
Reply:EPO (evening primrose oil) is to help with cm (cervical mucus). Take it period to ovulation, because it can cause uterine contractions, which is bad for implantation. I take 2000mg/day.

Preseed is the only sperm-friendly lubricant available. It protects and nourishes the sperm. My fiance and I tried it last month (didn't get pregnant, probably because we didn't use it every time). Many women have got pregnant within the first two months of using it and even women who have been TTC for years got pregnant the first month using it. Its the best lubricant we have ever used and my fiance loves, we are actually buying more today. Go to http://www.preseed.com for all of the information. Also on the their website they have a link for places to buy if you don't want to order it online.

Also, take a look at Organic Peruvian Maca powder at this link (it's a forum) http://forums.ovusoft.com/tt.asp?appid=3... and click on "Maca Root got me pregnant last time". I ordered mine yesterday in powder form because you have to take 1-2 tablespoons a day. However, to hold me and my fiance over til it arrives I bought some capsules of 525mg and we take 15 a day to equal 1 tablespoon.

Good luck!

OK, how did you take the primrose oil????

Evening Primrose Oil

Neither will actually induce labor. While some lay midwives will argue that statement about the Evening Primrose, which is the reason it is not recommended until 36 weeks or "full term", almost all sources with experience agree that it does nothing that the body was not ready to do on its own. I will repeat this at the end of this section, to make sure you understand this, as there is a lot of confusion and misconception surrounding these two substances.

Evening primrose oil is an excellent source of prostaglandins, which we already determined readies your cervix for labor. It can be taken orally as soon as 34 weeks, and can be applied directly to the cervix at full term (36 weeks). The general recommendation is two 500mg

capsules per day until week 38, at which time you increase to 3-4 per day. The entire capsule can be inserted vaginally (inserted just before bed, it will dissolve before the first time you wake to use the bathroom), or you can use the oil on your fingers for your perineal massage, then also rub on your cervix (assuming you can reach it). Applying directly to the cervix is optimal, but the beneficial ingredients are absorbed through the external skin or the stomach also.

Evening primrose oil - Evening primrose oil comes in small capsules similar to vitamin E. It is believed to help soften and ripen the cervix.

Don't listen to Sabine...I personally used this for all three of my births and I inserted 2 gels inside my vagina by my cervix twice a day for the last week of pregnancy. My midwife also used them during labor to get rid of the lip of my cervix. It worked immediately.

Pregnant...Even Primrose Oil Question?

I don't want to hear any grumpy people telling me I am horrible and that I want to induce my labor early, because I DON'T. I am just wondering if any of you have any experience with taking Evening Primrose Oil either orally or rubbed on your cervix, and if it helped move anything along or not. I talked to someone that goes to my OBGYN who says she tried it and worked, but I doubted it a little. If you did take it, when did you start, how much did you take and did it help anything? Im still only 34 weeks, still too early I would imagine, but am curious. Thanks! =)

Again, it doesnt causes labor to start!
Reply:Wait till your due date at least for the babies sake. When I was due for my son I took two tablespoons of caster oil at 5:30 p.m. and he was born about 11:45 p.m. that night, whether or not it was a coincidence or maybe it did really work, I will never know, other than he was born that day. The worst caster oil will do is clean you out good. Good luck with it.

Where can I find Primrose Tea? Or a tea that contians this ingredient? In store, or by internet order...?

I don't think there are any companies that sell an actual Primrose tea. I did a search on Yahoo, and the only hit that mentioned selling it was Shopzilla.... but when I pulled it up, it said there were no matches and listed all matches for Primrose.

What benefits are you looking for? If you are looking for skin health or hormonal balance (especially for women's cycles), I would suggest a simple Evening Primrose Oil softgel. It's rich in GLA (an Omega-6 fatty acid), which is the primary benefit of Primrose.

If you're looking for it for relaxation, you may want to just try an aromatic Primrose (essential oil or candle) instead. Good luck!

Where can I find Primrose Tea? Or a tea that contians this ingredient? In store, or by internet order...?
You can find products like this at your local health food store usually. You might find evening primrose more readily. I'm not entirely sure if there is a difference. There's usually a wide variety of teas there. It doesn't have to be a big health food store either. The one in our local mall carries it. Keep in mind this isn't a vitamin or supplement store. This store is a very small health store with some foods, teas, books, etc.

Prostate Cancer. Side effect of hormone treatment is severe hot flushes. Anyone know of some way to ease them?

All the commononly reccommended treatments have been tried - sage in various forms, all the "womens' ailments remedies" including Evening Primrose . . .

All without any real easing of the severe discomfort experienced as often as four or five times an hour. Any really helpful suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks a lot.

Prostate Cancer. Side effect of hormone treatment is severe hot flushes. Anyone know of some way to ease them?
I believe that the problem with the meducal industry us that they traet symptoms, and not cause.

I also believe that cancer is a whole body thing, and should be treated as such.

So, cleaning out the rest of the body will help solve the problems with the prostate.

If I was you, I would go through complete cleansing procedures for liver, kidney, gall bladder, and colon.

This the gives the body the strength to fight back and heal itself.

Reply:I would be very wary about taking any herbal supplement. Some of these herbs are effective in women going through menopause due to weak estrogen like activity. Prostate cancer is hormone sensitive (hence anti-androgen hormone treatment) - please check with both a good pharmacist and your consultant.

Sorry, can't really think of cure for hot flushes. Obviously wear loose clothing to physically cool yourself. Generous application of full body moisturiser and frequent use of emollient in luke warm bath will hydrate skin and feel cooling.

Primrose Oil?

I have Primrose Oil capsules. Can someone suggest how/how much I should take?

Im right at 39 weeks.

Thanks to those that answer!!

XOXOXOXO

Primrose Oil?
Primrose and Raspberry Leaf will not work for every woman, but they are safe to try, as long as you are not a high risk pregnancy and you are "full term." Evening Primrose Oil is not meant to cause labor anyway, but only to tone the uterus for labor.

My midwife told me 1500mg to 2000 mg per day. The oil can also be applied to the cervix. You can poke a hole in the capsule, squeeze the oil onto a tampon and wear it overnight.

I also took Red Raspberry Leaf capsules in my last few weeks of pregnancy. I had a lot of good Braxton-Hicks contractions and my labor was very effective and bleeding after birth was minimal.
Reply:I actually have been looking for something to self induce, and in looking I have come across many things that state that Primrose and Red Raspberry Leaf will not start contractions or induce labor, but rather that they simply help tone up the uterus and focus braxton hicks better for when the big day does arrive =(

Just thought I would pass that along since I wanted to try the raspberry tea and was let down upon reading that ( I just really don't think I could do the castor oil thing YUCK! lol) Good luck though ^_^
Reply:My midwife told me to put two capsules up by my cervix when I was going into labor to soften my cervix.

During my last 6 weeks of pregnancy I was supposed to take two a day orally.
Reply:i would ask your doctor he or she will know what is best for your body type and size plus they would know all your health history and that of your babys. good luck
Reply:Okay sweetie today is your lucky day. Im a certified nurse midwife in practice for 13 years. I will tell you that primrose isnt something i would suggest for inducing labor. My suggestion would be 4oz of castor oil wash it down with either rootbeer or orange juice. The taste isnt that bad its just a little thick but its not bad at all. What this does is aggitates the intestinal tract which rubs against the uterus. This causes contractions and has always worked with all my ladies that are willing to try. Your 39 weeks so it sould work for you. Primrose oil is more of a uterine muscle toner then an actual stimulant strong enough to cause productive contractions.

Evening Primrose Oil side effect??

I have been taking evening primrose oil for almost 2 weeks, I have had a headache for a few days and oily skin... is it related??

Evening Primrose Oil side effect??
I have been taking it for 12 years and no side affects. The only reason not to take evening primrose oil, if you have epilepsy. What was the reason for taking it? EPO helps regulate the hormones, so good for PMS, it is also a natural anti-inflammatory. Likewise how much are you taking? Good Luck
Reply:Probably. Stop using it ASAP.
Reply:i have been taking it since october of last year and it has helped with my periods.. i haven't had headaches and i don't think the oil is to blame.

Evening primrose dosage?

Hi there, I have PCOS and my hormones are outa control, I have started taking Evening Primrose oil but they are 1000mg tabs and it says take 3 a day, (3000mg) when I looked up dosage on the net it said 4000 to 6000mg is the dosage, Does anyone know the difference or am I wasting my time wiht the 3 a day.

cheers

Evening primrose dosage?
Try the 3000mg dose for a while (4-6 weeks) and see if you notice any improvement. If you do then great, you are on the right dosage, if not try upping it to 4000mg and see how that goes...that would be the careful way to go about it.

My information says to take 1500-3000mg daily to improve cervical mucus, and remember to take it from when you start your period until you ovulate then stop until you get your period again if you are trying to concieve. It is thought that EPO can cause uterine contractions which could prevent a fertilized egg from implanting properly.
Reply:Three a day will help you. You are getting some of it into your system, so it will have an effect. To be at truly therapeutic levels tho', I am more familiar w/ taking 4-6 at a time, as your research showed you. One question to also ask you would be your height and weight. If you are tiny, tiny, 3 might well be enough. I'm six feet tall, and the 6 caps I took 3x/day during my pregnancy were clearly indicated. If you have PCOS, stop eating eggs and dairy, especially full fat dairy. You may also need to look at stopping all meats treated w/ hormones and antibiotics as well. Can you eat soy, or are you allergic?

How can i get my cervix to dialate?

i have heard of alot of women taking primrose oil... where can i get it at? at a drug store? does it work?

How can i get my cervix to dialate?
The best way to bring on labor is to do it naturally. Your cervix will dialate on its own when the baby gets into position to come down. Go to a safe place and just walk walk walk. Walk slow, but walk. Get down on your hands and knees and scrub the floor. Then get up and walk again. If you get in the natural positions to help the baby align to come out, labor will start sooner and more natural.
Reply:I have tried primrose oil capsules, it does not dilate your cervix it helps soften your cervix. They can be bought over the counter at any drug store. I bought mine at Wal-Mart. They can be taken orally or used in suppository form. As far as I can tell...it hasn't worked for me and I have been using the capsules for about 3 weeks now. Sex is my only other suggestion.
Reply:My midwife suggested using evening primrose oil about four weeks before the expected due date. Your partner is supposed to take a small amount and massage your vaginal area, gently pushing down so as to start stretching things out.

We did it but I can't say for sure that it helped or didn't. My labours were both short and sweet but I did tear both times so who really knows about these things?

It won't hurt so try it if you want to, but I wouldn't count on it to make a huge difference.

I think I bought it at a drugstore!
Reply:Sex will help, as long as the man ejaculates. The sperm contains prostaglandins that cause the cervix to soften, encouraging dilation. Other options are spicy or greasy foods, loooong walks (gravity does it's job!), mopping the floor or vacuuming, nipple stimulation. Good luck!

Any advice you can give me about menstruation?

Hello, ladies/women! I would just like to know some ways a woman can feel more at ease during "that time of the month." How should Evening Primrose Oil be taken? Any other things you can advise that she take/things she should avoid? Thanks!

Any advice you can give me about menstruation?
Nice that you ask! You don't mention what symptoms your girlfriend/wife has but Evening Primrose Oil is taken for PMS, not for menstruation. If she has cramps, Ibuprofen works well. Just ask her what she needs and wants!
Reply:some thing warm to drink is nice-- not too much salt in food wil make us bloat even more!! mayeb get some midol pills supposed to help with pms and bloating up

isotoner slippers

Any ideas on how to start contractions?

We've tried EVERYTHING!!! including sex, spicy food, chinese food, bumpy car rides, primrose oil, black cohosh root, etc.... any other ideas? I've been dialated at 3 for 2 weeks, and am 40 1/2 weeks prego.

Any ideas on how to start contractions?
Go for a long walk--at least three miles. Then have sex and a spicy Mexican meal. If you don't go into labor after that, you've got one comfortable little baby on your hands and NOTHING will work!

Good luck.
Reply:Wait it out. Maybe your due date was off a bit (or maybe your baby likes it in there and needs more time).

Don't give in to pushy doctors trying to give you labor inducing drugs either- that's painful stuff!
Reply:I had my doctor strip my membranes and within 24 hrs, I had my baby. Go to the doctor and see if he/she would do it for you.... if the doctor hasn't already.
Reply:Walking? I tried everything and was induced 2 weeks after my due date. Hang in there, the baby will come when it's ready and Congratulations :)
Reply:nipple stimulation its releases oxytocin a hormone for contractions
Reply:Ask your Dr. about stripping your membranes, this can encourage labor to start.
Reply:Have you tried castor oil? Just a teaspoon worked for me. It tastes like %26amp;^%%26amp;^^%$ but my daughter was born 12 hours later.
Reply:Um... They say sex is it but it has to be unprotected so the spermies get in there they help to do it but really the baby will come when its ready.
Reply:I know this is gross, but Castor oil mixed with orange juice has been shown to work. Good luck!
Reply:i know you're miserable, however it's best to let nature take it's course
Reply:Well there is walking, or in my case I just had to go to Kansas City Airport.
Reply:WALK !

Primrose oil pregnant?

i am 33 weeks, 2 days. I cant wait to have this baby, does anyone know about primrose oil to help labor? and when should i start taking it? I heard it can take a few weeks to work....

Primrose oil pregnant?
I understand how anxious you are about having the baby, but it is too early yet.... you need to wait at least 5 more weeks before you can even go into labor.

The only thing that I know to use primrose oil for is for the cervix and perenial massages.

My midwife had me insert 3 capsules of primrose oil into my vagina clear up by my cervix right before bed every night from 36 weeks on to delivery. It was to help soften it so that it could dialate and efface better. She said it is like putting chapstick on your lips to soften them so that they don't crack and bleed.
Reply:You're 33 weeks!!! Stop it! You've got a bunch of important developmental time to go...a few weeks wouldn't even put you at term yet. Honestly...
Reply:Let baby come naturally, when he/she is ready! I know you are anxious to meet baby, but trying to rush it could be harmful to your child.

Not all babies pop out on their 'due date' which is, keep in mind, just and ESTIMATE... Your pregnancy is functioning in accordance with it's own biological clock, and meddling with supplements and remedies, etc., in an attempt to hasten your labor is a terrible idea! Just be patient, you'll meet baby soon enough!
Reply:I know that right now you feel like you would like nothing more than to have your body to yourself, but you still have 7 weeks left! You need to try to be patient. And trust me, I know how hard that can be. The last weeks of pregnancy are vital for lung development, and trying to induce labor puts your baby at risk. You have made it this far, you can make it another seven weeks! Let nature take its course, and enjoy your last few weeks before you are pulling all nighters with the little ones. The best thing you can do right now is be patient.
Reply:Evening primrose oil will not put you into labor, and you should NOT be wanting to go into labor at 33 weeks anyway!! Do you realize how much risk your baby would be at?

Anyway, evening primrose oil contains prostoglandens (just like semen does) and it will soften your cervix. It will not cause contractions or anything like that. My midwife gives me the ok to take epo capsules orally after 34 weeks.

Primrose oil and your views?

i was reading on web md that primrose oil is helpful in helping the cervix to ripen i want to try it but i wanna know if anyone else has used it and want to know how it went for them.....now i know its not bad because why would doctors give out positive feedback on it

Primrose oil and your views?
EPO is an excellent option to soften the cervix!! Take it orally 3 times a day on top of inserting one at in your vagina at nite!

Primrose Oil question!?

Someone just asked a question about primrose oil for acne. I have bad acne and would like to know what this is, how i use it and where I can get it. Thanks

Primrose Oil question!?
Primrose oil will actually balance out ur estrogen level. And when ur estrogen level is balanced it helps ur hormones and in turn helps ur acne. You can take Primrose oil pills (make sure u take the gel ones, they absorb faster). The oil will also help with your period symptoms. Its an amazing product but takes a while to see the results. Good Luck.
Reply:Evening primrose oil has been used since the 1930s for eczema (a condition in which the skin becomes inflamed, itchy, or scaly because of allergies or other irritation).

More recently it has been used for other conditions involving inflammation, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Evening primrose oil is used for conditions affecting women's health, such as breast pain associated with the menstrual cycle, menopausal symptoms, and premenstrual syndrome.

Other conditions for which evening primrose oil is used include cancer and diabetes. Professional basketball players use EPO for muscle cramps as it soothes the large muscle groups. It supplies much needed gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid. Essential fatty acids are required by the body for growth and development, and must be obtained from the diet.

EPO can be purchased at any health food store, or even Walmart. Remember that, with vitamins, you pay for quality. Take EPO 1000 mg., three times daily. Start out with one capsule daily, working your way up to three capsules daily to prevent the runs if your body isn't used to any extra oil.

Primrose oil?

People have said they take evening primrose orally or vaginally in the last month. What will it do? I have read alot on it and my doctor says its safe, and will help the cervix. I am just wanting to know really if anyone has used it vaginally and what happened.

Primrose oil?
I am taking it. I took it orally for 5 days and had an exam. nothing happened for me. So then I started taking it vaginally. 2 capsules 1000mg at night when I was lying down. I went to the Dr. 3 days later and he tod me that my cervix was very favorable and I was 2 cm dilated. So, I think it helped when I took it vaginally. I'm still taking it to help my cervix. my husband won't have sex with me at this point and I think it's the next best thing. I'm also taking walks around the neighborhood everyday this week to see if this helps as well. My Dr. told me to go for it and try what I wanted(obviously with caution). It okayed this for me. Good Luck with it. I found my EPO at CVS.

Moon flowers,primrose, night flowers?

Does anyone know about these beautiful flowers..They are yellow and they bloom around dusky dark time..Its so cool, you can actually see them bloom out....They smell so good..Was just wondering if anyone else had these?

Moon flowers,primrose, night flowers?
They might be Four O'Clocks. They smell really sweet and pleasant.
Reply:use to have moon flowers, they were white ones and pink ones and they grow faster than thistles. The seeds are sold in stores where they sell plants
Reply:You probably answered your own question. Evening primroses include several species in their genus, Oenothera. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evening_pri...

O. hookeri 3 ft x 1 ft - yellow

http://www.laspilitas.com/plants/452.htm

O. fremontii 'Shimmer' - yellow, 'Lemon Silver'- yellow

http://www.highcountrygardens.com/catalo...

O. missouriensis also called the Missouri primrose is very popular in xeric gardens and fragrant. This is why I got it.

http://www.arrowheadalpines.com/yellow2_...

My only problem is they seed in all over. I find them growing everywhere.

Four O’clock's (Mirabilis jalapa) are annuals that come in bright yellow but I think the hummingbirds like it better than I do. Reseeds usually in places I put it unlike the evening primrose.

http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/consu...

Chlidanthus fragrans is a yellow night bloomer called the Fairy Lily that looks a bit like a crocus in summer.

http://www.brentandbeckysbulbs.com/summe...

Another night blooming plant is Flowering Tobacco (Nicotiana sylvestris). A tall angular annual that I have only ever seen in creamy-white however. For me this is the most fragrant, much more than the evening primroses.

Does Evening Primrose oil help you get pregnant???

i just bought this today. it helps increase the quality and the amount of fertile cervical mucus around the time of ovulation. you need to take btwn 1,500-3,000 mg of it a day from the first day of your period up until the time you ovulate. taking it beyond ovulation will cause uterine contractions making it difficult for implantation. so if you are fertile it does help if you are lacking in mucus or if you have dry, thick mucus.

Does Evening Primrose oil help you get pregnant???
i'm in a fertile stage right now and the evening primrose oil has worked great. i have the best cervical mucus ever Report It
Reply:I took 1500mg of EPO this month up until ovulation and I think it worked fine! I had lots more CM during ovulation and it made it really easy to tell when I was O'ing.

It couldnt hurt to try it out!
Reply:No, only sex will help get you pregnant.

Is Women's Evening Primrose oil safe for men?

I'm talking about the GNC brand, specifically. I heard it's good for keeping your skin healthy, but I was wondering if it would affect guys in any way if it's tailored for women.

What is the difference between pin-eyed and thrum-eyed primroses?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primula_vul...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oenothera

What is the difference between pin-eyed and thrum-eyed primroses?
In pin-eyed flowers, the stigma is at the top of the flower tube and can be seen in the centre of the flower looking like a small green pin head. In this type of flower, the anthers are halfway down the central flower tube, in a ring around the style.

In the thrum-eyed type, the style reaches only halfway up the flower tube, so that the stigma is also positioned halfway up inside the tube. The anthers in this type are at the top of the flower tube and can be seen as a yellow/orange mass in the centre of the flower.

Is it safe to keep taking supplements like B-Complex, Evening Primrose and Vit C whilst pregnant?

As a midwife, I agree with dreamer on the evening primrose, although I would not advise taking it prior to the 36th week - 34 is a bit early for me.

It's fine to take the others, although as a rule I say don't take mega-doses. Of the B's and C the main concern would be niacin. Too much is not good!

A good well-balanced vitamin is best. I like a separate mineral supplement since minerals, especially calcium, can interfere with absorption of other vitamins.

Is it safe to keep taking supplements like B-Complex, Evening Primrose and Vit C whilst pregnant?
i wouldnt think it would hurt as long as you take your pre-natal also.of course you need to ask your OB about taking them together.ya know just in case. better safe than sorry with an innocent life! and congrats
Reply:not evening primrose that is used as a natrual thing to induce labor. so if you use it midwives recommend starting a supplement of evening primrose oil during the 34th week of pregnancy. You can start by taking one or two 500 mg capsules every day. When you reach 38 weeks, you can begin taking up to four capsules of evening primrose oil every daybut vit c and b complex it ok, i take them all in a pregnancy vit which is about 6 different vits in one, used during pregnancy and for breast feeding. but large doses of some vitamins can be harmful
Reply:b-complex can help with nausea, my doctor actually prescribed it when I was pregnant with my first. Vitamin C can help boost both your babies and your immune system. Any extra vitamin c is simply urinated out it doesn't hurt. Evening Primrose like already stated can induce labor so I would avoid that one. YOu should also be taking iron and a good multi-vitamin or prenatal.
Reply:I think its best to switch to pregnancy vitamins as they contain all the vitamins you and your baby need. GOOD LUCK!!!
Reply:I would say a big NO on that, the only medication you should be taking is iron tablets..
Reply:vitamin c helps with nausea and u should also be on a prenatal muti-vitamin

Clomid works!!! with primrose evening tablets and Preseed?

Hi!

i was on clomid for the last 4 months, this month i'd tried clomid with evening primrose gel tablets and during ovulation i used lubricant called (Silken Secret) it worked!!! Thank GOD!!

please be aware that clomid get rid of the mucous and the sperms are unavailable to swim to the egg!! girls ensure you use a lubricant.....so that it helps the sperm to swim..it worked for me this month!!

Clomid works!!! with primrose evening tablets and Preseed?
Congrats! I also used clomid and metformin to concieve my children, and I agree about the lube thing.... the only difference is I used egg whites.... just have them prepared earlier... no one wants to crack an egg in bed or have a cold lube!! But seriously I was told to use egg whites in place of artificial lubricants because egg whites are natural and help to move the spermies along! Anyways... Congrats again!
Reply:Are you pg?

Does " evening primrose oil" help with PMS?

a friend told me to try evening primrose oil for pms symptons- she said it helped her alot- is it safe?

Does " evening primrose oil" help with PMS?
Take 1,000mg daily of the capsules.

It really does work but takes about 2 months to take affect.

It also stops sore breasts.

I tell everyone about it as it's a wonder drug that woman and Doctor's just don't consider. I found out through a Doctor and breast specialist friend of mine.

AND YOU DON"T RUB IT ON YOUR BELLY.
Reply:Yes, I've heard that if you rub it on the lower stomach, behind the ears and on the pulse points on your wrist, it should help ease symptoms of PMS along with cramps. It is completely safe to use--just don't drink it and avoid getting it into the eyes. Other than that, I don't know much more--hope that helps!
Reply:Yes it is safe. As long as you take the recommended amount. Also, raspberry leaf tea is excellent! You just have to drink a lot of it and it's quite refreshing made into ice tea.
Reply:yes,rub on belly

Is it safe to take a mix of these two vitamins?

I want to start taking Evening Primrose vitamins PLUS the Hair, Nails, and Skin Vitamins. I read on the internet it says to take 1000mg of EveningPrimrose a day and the bottle of Hair, Nails, and Skin vitamins says to take them three times a day as well. Would it be safe to mix the too? Anybody else take both of these?

Is it safe to take a mix of these two vitamins?
Yeah, its safe, except for the damage it will do to your pocketbook - the ingredients are completely worthless.

Some vitamins, however may not be so safe... high dose vitamin E, for example, seems to increase mortality. No one knows why.

Evening primrose question?

I just got the green light to start using evening primrose, and I was wondering if there was anyone out there that has used it and how long did it take them to thin out?

Working in an ob/gyn office I have not come across anyone that has tried it, so all answers will be much appreciated :)

Evening primrose question?
my goodness. granted, i have had signs of preterm labor since 30 weeks but i started using evening primrose oil for perineal massage 5 days ago. after 3 days i was having contractions, come to find out i am 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. after my perineal massage last night i lost my mucus plug. sounds like it's different for everyone, but it seems to be moving me along.
Reply:I took it for the 2 weeks I was past due. I ended up having a c-section anyway and a 10 lb baby. It had no adverse effects though, so I would try it.

Going to book up a haven holiday which is best, been to craig tara, primrose valley & seton sands.?

Is there any others that are highly recomended or should I go back to one of the others.

Going to book up a haven holiday which is best, been to craig tara, primrose valley %26amp; seton sands.?
I've never been to Primrose Valley, but I've benn to the other two.

It was a while ago, so they might have changed a bit.

Seten Sands was alright, but it felt a bit basic. There wasn't much to do from a kids point of view, but might suit a couple, or a family looking for a quiet holiday better.

Craig Tara is bigger, the pool is huge (with a wave pool if i remember) loved it as a kid (but it was Butlins then). And it does have a lot more entertainment

I much prefer North Wales, Devon or Cornwall.

Yes, it would be ok to take both. Evening Primose is a natural supplement for PMS or Menopause. The hair, nails and, skin vitamin should not interfere with each other. But, just to be certain, ask your Pharmacist, since he/she has more in-depth knowledge. I hope that this helped some.
Reply:You might want to compare the lists of supplements in each to make sure you're not overdosing yourself on any one thing. Other than that, the only real risk is of two of the supplements canceling eachother out by preventing absorbtion, but that can be avoided by taking the two types of vitamins at least a few hours apart.

Any successful ways to help cervix ripen?

I am 39 weeks and being induced next week. I am 2 cm's dilated but still kindof thick the Doc said. Is there any ways I can help ripen my cervix? I have been taking Evening Primrose Oil but obviously it hasn't done too much. Any other suggestions? Thank you!

Any successful ways to help cervix ripen?
You can apply the Evening Primrose oil directly to the cervix instead of just taking orally. Break open a capsule and soak a q-tip with the oil and apply gently to the cervix.

Red raspberry leaf is to help dilating - NOT for softening/ripening.

And it is true that semen contains prostaglandins which DO ripen the cervix.

Homeopathic remedies to initiate labor or to help ripen the cervix include caulophyllum (200X every 30 minutes for 2 hours) and caulophyllum 30C (6 doses during the day after 40 weeks gestation).
Reply:You can try walking and sex but my best advice is to sit back and relax. That baby won't come out until it wants to. (or is lured out by the doctor!)
Reply:I think the only thing that will truly work is time.

BUT I drank raspberry tea like it was going out of style, I don't know if it worked or not but I had my baby. :) Good luck!
Reply:having sex induces labor. the substance found in sperm is also found in the labor inducer and within 24 hours, you will be in the hospital.
Reply:membran sweep, and doggy style sex but watch out for this one as it actaully broke my waters
Reply:Are you taking it orally? Because it is more effective if you apply it right on your cervix. That is the only thing that I know of to help you ripen.

The dosage recommended for Evening Primrose Oil is 1500mg to 3000mg per day. It should only be taken from menstruation to ovulation as it may cause uterine contractions. Good luck!
Reply:I saw a difference immediately with EPO... just don't take it past the time when you ovulate because it can cause uterine contractions. You can also take Flaxseed Oil through your whole cycle. You might want to look into taking Mucinex around the time of ovulation to help your CM more hospitable... good luck with the clomid!!! Baby dust!!!
Reply:I finally decided to try Evening Primrose Oil this month, and I definitely noticed a difference. I took 2000mg/day from day 1-10, and had ewcm for the first time in more than a year! I would try it!!
Reply:I have never tried epo, but I did use preseed last month and got pregnant! I had been ttc for 14 months and was on my third round of clomid. I really believe preseed helped me. Preseed creates a friendly environment for his boys to swim in and makes you wet. Since clomid can make you dry, I found preseed very good. It is expensive, but worth it. You can buy it at www.preseed.com.

Good luck and lots of baby dust to you!
Reply:Evening primrose oil is used to help regulate hormones. Some doctors suggest taking it at the beginning of your cycle. It generally takes months to finally make a difference.

Primrose oil & pregnancy?

I'm 24 %26amp; i want to use primrose oil ( capsules) , but first i would like to know does it effect the ability of getting pregnant in the future ?

thanx ,,

Primrose oil %26amp; pregnancy?
The first rule to be followed strictly in pregnancy is that do not take any kind of medication (even herbal) without consulting ur doctor/midwife. there are many herbal medicines/supplements which should not be taken in during pregnancy as they can have an effect on ur baby as well as induce labour. So, consult ur doctor first and then take anything if ur doctor gives u a green signal.
Reply:I don't honestly know. I have never heard of primrose oil being related to fertility in any way.

However, contact an herbalist and ask, just to be on the safe side.

http://www.herbnet.com/ask%20the%20herba...

A Q %26amp; A directory of all the questions she's been asked before is already there. Read through it to see if she's addressed primrose oil before. I don't think she has, in relation to fertility.

So if you don't see anything on it, go back to that index page and find the link to email her under her picture. That will get you an answer from a trained, practicing herbalist.
Reply:I take that now its super primrose i dont know if thats the same thing its the gel capsules...and i take mine with vitex and a prenatal i was told strictly as soon as i found out i am pregnant to discontinue the primrose and the vitex because it can cause you to have a miscarriage....goodluck to you!!!
Reply:Truthfully I wouldnt recommend taking it quite yet in your pregnancy. I am 36 weeks along and the dr. had me start taking it at beginning of 35 weeks. from last saturday to yesterday i went from 0% effaced to 60% effaced and 1.5 cm dialated. so all it does is ripen your cervix, and you dont want that right yet. start taking it at 35 or 36 weeks to help tone your cervix and prepare it for labor. hope This was some help.
Reply:EPO won't effect your ability to get PG again.

EPO also will not induce labor, as many women seem to think. Instead, it helps to ripen the cervix.

Has anyone taken primrose oil and starflower oil?

for PMS, if so did it work for you.

Has anyone taken primrose oil and starflower oil?
I haven't tried starflower oil, but I have found Evening Primrose Oil to be very helpful for reducing the stress of PMS.

I have used it for many years now and have noticed the difference when I don't use it, so I would say it is effective.

For myself, I feel more relaxed and comfortable when I am using it.

Best wishes :-)
Reply:yer my mum used to shove a primrose oil down my neck everymorning to help me with my pms and they were so big iused to choke on them. so she gave up on me and then i started to get a bit worked up when on my peroids. but i think they did work for me. made me feel a lot more chilled
Reply:Itake Evening primrose, and it helps but not loads, but then i do get reallly bad pms ie i'm like a mad screaming banshee and very aggressive but when i remember to take the oil i just get the weepy side of it so i'd say it gets rid of the agrression. Also i usally look about 5 months pregnant just before my period HUGE, but when i take EPO it looks much less as they help reduce water retention.

How effective is primrose oil?

how well does it help with syptoms of pmt such as tiredness, sore breasts, feeling down etc etc

How effective is primrose oil?
Very good if can get the dosage right. Have a chat with a pharmacists first or get an appointment at a Well Women Clinic just to make sure there are no underling reasons for your problems
Reply:I've found it very effective for breast pain. 1000mg per day.
Reply:some of my girlfriends swear by it but it does nothing for me. on the other hand a combination magnesium/calcium supplement from ovulation to the first day of my cycle gets rid of my pmt, tiredness and makes my cramps much more manageable. I guess what i'm saying is you have to try things to know what works for you personally.
Reply:I have tried Agnus Castus from Dr Vogel %26amp; it has really helped me with PMT:

http://www.herbsforhealthyliving.co.uk/c...

his range is the best I have tried %26amp; everything I bought from this range has worked for me.

PS%26gt; I don't know where they'd be available in the US but I'm sure you can get them in most good heaoth shops or if you google it online...
Reply:Evening primrose was suggested for PMT for a while, however controlled studies failed to show that it actually had any appreciable effect. However there is some evidence that the active ingredient of evening primrose, gamma linoleic acid, if taken daily does help reduce cyclic mastalgia.
Reply:For me it is amazing, my surgeon told me that it works in only about 30% of women though but I use it fiberous lumps that grow in my breasts. I'm not too sure for tiredness or the blues.

How much to charge as a Nanny?

?? about evening primrose oil?

Has any one actually taken evening primrose oil and it help with thier period. And will in help enhance your fertility. I was also looking into using Vitex but I looked in walmart for it and couldn't find it so does anyone know where I could find Vitex other than online. Thanks for all the help. Oh and if primrose oil does enhance fertility did anyone get pregnant from using it. thanks.

?? about evening primrose oil?
Okay, I tried to conceive for ONE FULL YEAR, and no luck. I started the evening primrose oil, and drank like 4 cups of red raspberry leaf tea a day. I was pregoo in 30 days flat.
Reply:I have heard alot of negative things about vitex, i wouldn't use it. I have a friend who got pg on evening primrose oil, so i guess it can help
Reply:try fertility blend which has vitex in it. it can be ordered online just google fertility blend. vitex is is in fact the most common herb used for fertility b/c it balances the system. i just recently started fertility blend and it seems to have really regulated my period in my first cycle, which is wonderful.

evening primrose is good for cervical mucus. i have no experience with it.

i strongly recommend the vitex.

Evening primrose oil for induction?

ok i have it and it was suggested by my dr and he said insert it cervically but idk how far in to put it and what to so it with and how long does it take to disolve or whatever cuz i have a dr appt at 405 today and its now 951 so could ya please help me?

Evening primrose oil for induction?
You want to insert them as close to the cervix as you can when you lay down for bed. They need to be in there while you are sleeping so they don't slip out.
Reply:Wouldn't it make sense to CALL THE DOCTOR and get your instructions from him? The people on Answers can't help you.
Reply:i'm not sure i have ever heard of that one before and i have 6 kids under 10 lol i know that it's good for moodswings assisated with pmt but wether it starts labour i have no idea
Reply:I'm not sure but you can check online perhaps google it..good luck I hope it does something for you..I've come to the conclusion that my baby just won't budge from the womb until he's ready..and he's a stubborn lil guy!

Good luck!

Evening Primrose Oil Capsules?

I am 38 weeks and have been 2 cm dilated for 4 weeks and 50% effaced. Will this help bring on labour faster? Does it work? Are there any side effects ?

Evening Primrose Oil Capsules?
Evening Primrose Oil acts as a prostaglandin, which ripens or softens the cervix.

You can take evening primrose oil, orally, in the last four weeks of your pregnancy. You should take three evening primrose oil capsules daily for the first week (36th week of gestation) and then one to two capsules a day for the last three weeks of pregnancy.

it doesn't bring on labor... it only prepares the cervix.

SIDE EFFECTS: Indigestion, nausea, soft stools, or headache may occur.

IMO: Your body is already getting ready. I don't know that it's worth it or not.
Reply:no they don't go to gyne
Reply:i took EPO at my doctor's reccommendation from 38 weeks and had four hours of labor and an easy easy birth. my dr. was know as the miracle labor doc too. check with your doctor for correct dosage - it's more than you think.

If taking lofepramine (prescribed antiD), can a person also take eve primrose oil, vitamin b6 & agnus castus?

Check with your doctor alot of those vitamins an minerals can really mess with your meds.

If taking lofepramine (prescribed antiD), can a person also take eve primrose oil, vitamin b6 %26amp; agnus castus?
you need to always tell your doctor about what supplements you are on... which reminds me i forgot to tell mine the other day that i've started taking a vegetarian vitamin....
Reply:pop into your chemist and ask them, they are very helpful
Reply:best read the bottle and check with your GP as some vitamins and minerals are quite strong and can mess your body up if your on medication
Reply:Check with your doctor or the consultant who prescribed them.

Have any of you got pregnant from taking evening Primrose oil or Vitex??

My husband and I are trying to conceive and I want to use natural fertility enhancers and was wondering out of these two did any of you or anyone you know get pregnant from taking this and how long did you take it before you found out you were pregnant. Thanks in advance.

Have any of you got pregnant from taking evening Primrose oil or Vitex??
Water

When trying to conceive it is very important to drink lots of water about 8-10 cups a day. This helps to "clean out" your system and helps to increase fertile quality cervical fluid. Also, it′s a good habit to begin for pregnancy - when drinking a lot of water is imperative.

Orgasms

In order to conceive pregnant sperm must enter the vagina, pool in the cervix, join with an "egg" and attatch to the uterus creating an embryo. Orgasm helps to increase the chances of conception. Orgasm increases the blood-flow to the reproductive organs helping them to function better. Orgasm also helps the cervix to "suck" up sperm in the vagina, thus helping the sperm to reach the awaiting egg.

*Note: Conception is possible without female orgasm - it just increases the chances of conception occuring.

The Lifespan of an Egg

An egg is released from the ovaries once each month in the menstrual cycle. The egg will only live for a short 12 to 24 hours. The window for conception to occur is very narrow and it is imperative that the sperm be waiting for the egg once it is released.

When To Test

Given the fact that implantation normally takes place from 7 to 10 days after ovulation - an extremely sensitive test can give a positive test result 1 day after implantation. Most directions say that you can test on the day your cycle is due. However you can test much earlier if you can pinpoint ovulation and possible implantation. I received a positive test result 4 days before my menstural cycle was due.

Charts

In order to effectively chart your fertility signs, you will need a good chart. You can download your chart from a number of websites, such as www.fertilityplus.org or you can make your own. If you buy a brand new basal body thermometer, the package should contain a blank one you can copy. Or you can purchase a book such as Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler and copy the charts in the back of her book.

Prenatal Vitamins

It′s important to start prenatal vitamins while you are trying to conceive. It gets you in a good habit and the folic acid in prenatals help to prevent certain birth defects. Prenatal vitamins also contain a good amount of calcium and iron which are beneficial in pregnancy.

Nutrition

While trying to conceive it′s very important to maintain proper nutrition. Eat healthy portions from all the food groups everyday and avoid excess sugars and fat. Especially be sure to get plenty of calcium to maintain healthy bones and to help build a healthy baby.

A False Negative

The chances of receiving a false negative test result is greater than that of a false positive. The reasons for a false negative are that your body may not be producing enough hCG for that particular test to detect. Some women have gone as long as 17 days post ovulation before receiving a positive home pregnancy test result.

False-Positives?

If you′ve received a false positive on a home pregnancy it is one of two things. 1. The hpt was faulty.

2. You were indeed pregnant and suffered an early miscarriage (chemical pregnancy) - one that occurs around the time the menstrual cycle is due.

Pre-Pregnancy Exam

Before you start trying to conceive you should schedule a pelvic exam. Your doctor will give you a pap smear as well as check for an abonormalities in a regular exam of the uterus and ovaries. Tell them you are planning on getting pregnant and ask them about a prescription for prenatal vitamins.

The Recommendation Of Checking the Cervix

The cervical position can show where you in your cycle. However there is a small danger in checking the cervix. Some doctors say it can introduce germs and can cause infections if the cervix is checked too often. If you wish to check the cervical position be sure to thoroughly wash your hands prior to the check. There are many women who use this particular sign every month to help them pinpoint where they are in their menstrual cycle.

Dosage

It is beneficial to take at least 50 mg (up to 200 mg) of vitamin B6 daily - all cycle long. I saw great results with just 63 mg of the B6 a day.

As with any supplement, be sure to seek the advise of your physican before starting a new regimen.

Day 14 Myth

A lot of people assume that women automatically ovulate on day 14 of their cycle. This is not true. Women can ovulate as early as day 6 and as late as day 30 or later. Many factors affect ovulation - hormones, stress, health, etc. Through proper fertility charting you can pinpoint the exact day of ovulation.

Discovering Anovulation

Anovulation can be discovered through charting. If your temperatures never show a rise and if they are very irratic you are anovulatory. Cervical fluid and cervical position can be all over the place as well.

Sperm Facts

Sperm can live up to 5 days inside the fallopian tubes. Female sperm are slower and live longer than the fast male sperm.

Breaking Bad Habits

Breaking bad habits while trying to conceive is important. Quit smoking, drinking alcohol, and limit your intake of caffine. These things can greatly harm a developing fetus.

Calcium

Eating foods rich in calcium is important to maintain healthy bones in both you and your developing baby. Dairy foods contain maximum amounts of calcium. If you are unable to eat dairy foods, take a calcium supplement.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound exams are given on the day of the luetenizing hormone (LH) surge. The ultrasound determines the thickness of the uterine lining, the follicle development and the condition of the ovaries and uterus. This is often when endometriosis is first diagnosed.

Postcoital Test

A postcoital test is done soon after having intercourse. The doctor obtains a sample of the cervical fluid. This is to determine if the sperm can survive in your cervical fluid. The test is performed just prior to ovulation.

Low Estrogen

A possible indicator of low estrogen could be if your pre-ovulation temperatures are on the high side. Estrogen will normally cause the basal body temperature to be low. Another indication of estrogen is the quality of cervical fluid around ovulation. Estrogen will help the body to produce more of the fertile quality cervical fluid.

Natural Remedies of Anovulation

The herb Vitex and Dong Quai can help to regulate hormones thus bringing on ovulation. It′s extremely important not to take these with any other medications - as they can react. ALWAYS seek the advice of your physician before taking any new supplement. Evening Primrose Oil can help with producing fertile quality cervical fluid (a symptom of anovualtion) and vitamin B6 can help to lengthen the luteal phase.

Charting Every Day

If you are charting your fertility signs, be sure to chart every day. While it is not fully necessary to take your temperature on the days of menstruation, it is a good idea to go ahead and keep in the habit of temping every morning. Make a habit every day to run down the list and mark it off of your chart - temperature, cervical fluid, cervical position and any variations you need to record.

Normal Pre-Ovulation Temperatures

Every woman is different, so is her basal body temperature (BBT). What is normal for one may indicate a problem for another. Normally, pre-ovulation BBT′s are in the 96.0 F to 98.0 F range.

Progesterone Cream

If you have a luteal phase defect - using progesterone cream from ovulation to menstruation/pregnancy will help to lengthen the luteal phase. Use an all-natural progesterone cream (I recommend Happy PMS Cream) 1/4-1/2 teaspoon twice a day rubbed on inner thighs, belly, chest, arms, neck - alternating areas each application. The cream is safe to use when early pregant.
Reply:Didn't you already ask this? I will answer again :o)

Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) softens the cervix and allows for the sperm to pass more readily through the cervical opening. It has been proven to help in sperm transmission from vagina to uterus - but, if you are having issues ovulating, it won't help that much.

Ways to increase your ovulation, better your 'vaginal hospitality' to sperm, and increase positive mucosa are: red clover, partridge berry, and liferoot. These are available at most health foods stores or herbal/holistic stores. In combination with EPO, they can be very effective.

It helped a friend of mine get pregnant, good luck!
Reply:Try the book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility, by Toni Weschler. I've used Evening Primrose Oil to help with cramps during my period!
Reply:Eat spinach. Seriously, I couldn't conceive for 6 years and now when I was done trying I went on this diet and ate sooo much spinach. Funny thing, I was just low in iron so now I'm pregnant and really NOT EXPECTING!
Reply:i would say do not use anything naturally until you have been trying for at least 6 months.. trying things out can actually mess with your cycle.

if you reach a year then go see doc for some natural ways..if your over 35 see a doc in 6 months..

Sensative breasts does evening primrose oil cause this ?

It happens just before your period.

For best results see your doctor because fibercystic breast start off sensitive.

Any ways it happens before menstruation and it could also happen at the beginning of developing fibercystic breast.

Can black and blue cohosh be rubbed on the cervix? Is it effective for ripening and contractions this way?

I am over due and miserable. I have both of these in liquid form as well as evening primrose oil in liquid form and capsule form.

Can black and blue cohosh be rubbed on the cervix? Is it effective for ripening and contractions this way?
some midwives recomend it, however you shouldnt use ANYTHING without asking YOUR doctor so call them and ask. blessings
Reply:Do not use the cohosh, period. However you can take your Evening Primrose by mouth as directed AND use on as a suppository (poke a small hole in it) then lay down so it can do it's thing. It acts as a softener for the cervix.

My midwife had me do this when I went a week over, it seemed to work. However, you can't make that baby come if it's not ready.

Best wishes!
Reply:not sure about that, I would ask your doctor. However, having a good foot rub will sometimes help. There are nerves or something in your feet that will start contractions soon after the foot rub, plus.....its a foot rub!! Ahhhh :-) My sister had them done every couple days for a week or so before she was due and had the baby a day early.
Reply:I drank raspberry leaf tea (from a health food store) and after a few days I was in labor! You have to drink a lot though, like 1/2 pitcher a day. My doctor suggested this to me because it is the safest thing to try (from what she said)

it doesn't taste that great, but with enough sugar/splenda and lemon, it was do-able!
Reply:I don't know a lot about this but I was reading on it and read that it can cause you to bleed too much during delivery!

I wouldn't take the chance!

Call your dr if you are miserable!

They might be able to induce you if you are that miserable!
Reply:Black and Blue Cohosh should NEVER be used to self induce labor, it can cause MAJOR organ malfunction immediately after birth, it can also cause you hemorrhaging after delivery.
Reply:I have heard to stay away from that. The best thing that helped me was accupressure. You can find out alot on the internet for labor accupressure. Hope this helps.

Hi, would anybody have any ideas where I could get a pair of fairly cheap yellow earrings?

They are for my Aunt so nothing too trendy or big, she has been trying to get herself a pair of primrose coloured earrings but hasn’t been able to find any.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi, would anybody have any ideas where I could get a pair of fairly cheap yellow earrings?
http://jewellery-watches.search-desc.eba...
Reply:Claire's Accessories is da ULTIMATE shop, has chains and earrings in every colour under the rainbow. Try Accessorize as well!
Reply:normally ebay is a great source for this, just go to earrings and put "yellow" in to the search so all other colours will be eliminated, although you may bet a lot of yellow gold
Reply:i would try claires or primark. Depends what style of earrings you are looking for. Look on local markets too.
Reply:Usually anyplace in the mall wil have them, like Claire's, Icing, or Afterthoughts. If all else fails, try Ebay! :)
Reply:Id say claires accesories
Reply:try ebay, they got everything
Reply:Claire's Accessories or your local market
Reply:if u want studs or other earrings just go to claires its an awesome store and their prices r fairly cheap.
Reply:You could try Claire's Accessories, they usually have a really good range of earrings of all colours and descriptions. Other than that, I don't know, Accessorize may also be a good bet.
Reply:Well, I happen to make jewelry as a hobby and have been doing this for the past four years; I'm proud to say that I'm a self-taught jeweler, though my best friend and my neighbors have provided some help. I deal mostly with beads and, depending on where you live and your price range, I would be happy to help. Please contact me at my e-mail address and let me know... If we don't work out, I suggest Target or Kohl's for the job (though Kohl's may be a bit bigger and trendier...) Good luck with this gift for your aunt!
Reply:claires they have every thing there
Reply:That's a hard one to answer...I'll say Walmart, K-Mart, Target, Walgreen's or any drug store near you. You can even go to the second hand stores and find vintage earrings there.

One women's trash is another women's treasure!!!!
Reply:From what I hear, The UK has many antique shops, etc. I would try the resale shops first, then maybe an antique shop.
Reply:Another place to try is your local bead store. Ask them if they can make the earrings for you if you bought the material from them. One of the bead store near my home does this and another doesn't. So, check before picking out the material.

If they agree, then pick out the items you want in your earring and look at patterns that they usually have for display.
Reply:Clair's or Primark.
Reply:claires
Reply:Try Wal- Mart. You can find about anything you are looking for there at a fairly cheap price and they will look good too.
Reply:try primark,peacocks or claires definately!!

other places such as new look or dorethy perkins should sell them,

What vitimins should i take daily for thicker hair and clearer skin?

does vitimin c, evening primrose oil capsules and skin hair and nails tablet (or something on the lines of that name) work?

What vitimins should i take daily for thicker hair and clearer skin?
fish oil, it sounds hard core nasty, but if you put it in a smoothie, you can't even taste it. Great for shiny hair and clear skin.
Reply:Second that, Vit E
Reply:I went on herbspro.com they have a bunch of vitamins for those kind of things

My staffies fur hasnt fully recovered from mites how do i help her hair grow back?

MY seven month old staffie had demedex mights at the age of 3months through to 5 months most of her hair has grown back and at the vet all her skin scapings are negative so the mights have gone and she is not scratching but on the underside of her neck and cheeks the hair is finding it hard to grow back. I have just started putting evening primrose oil in her diet ( she is on royal canin puppy formula for skin and digest dry food with chicken necks) and washing her with a tea tree oil dog shampoo and oat meal conditioner any other ideas

My staffies fur hasnt fully recovered from mites how do i help her hair grow back?
I would recommend a supplement such as Fresh Factors.

Here%26gt; http://springtimeinc.com/product/88/2

It will boost her immune system, and really improve her coat. If you read the testimonials, they are genuine.
Reply:California Natural Skin and Coat Supplement. It works wonders. Really, you'll be pleased.

www.naturapet.com for where to buy it near you.

www.arknaturals.com is a website that sells natural, herbal remedies that work well.

Keep in mind, there may be scars. All the fur may never grow back. It's rare, usually, it all comes in fine.

Good luck
Reply:The hair might not come back like it was or it normally would. There will be scar tissue likely, especially since she had mange for 2 months.

I wouldn't over bath her.. Tea tree oil can be a little hard on them. I would put 1 tsp of applecider vinegar in her drinking water.. each and every bowl.. Get the Braggs from your healthfood store..

Also mix up a pail of water 50/50 water / the applecider vinegar. Get a cloth and wipe her down with the mixture once a week.. It's going to help her skin get back to proper ph and get her healing up and get what hair will come back, to come back. Might help some with the scar tissue as well...

Omega 3 oil in the diet.. Would also give her some plain yogurt daily.. The kind with the 2 live bacterial cultures.. Good health starts in the guts, Keep the system clean and ph'd and things'll come around.

Evening primrose oil?

I've read that inserting an evening primrose oil tablet in your vagina everyday can help soften the cervix. Has anyone tried this? And is it safe? Please only answer if you have experience or know for sure, I don't want any guesses. Thanks :)

Evening primrose oil?
I started taking them ORALLY at 37.5 weeks to induce labor. I tried everything to induce labor-- something worked, because I had my son at 38+1, which was unfortunately 10 minutes too late to get my tax deduction for 2006.
Reply:Always check with your doctor before starting any herbs or vitamins!
Reply:If you dont want to check with your doc then i suggest that you do a lot of research on the net and in a library.

here this will help:

Pregnant Women Should Take Caution Using Untested Remedies

An expecting mom in her 37th week of pregnancy told me that her midwife recommended that she take evening primrose oil to bring on labor slowly, but surely. The mom asked me if there would be any side effects for her daughter-to-be.

Evening primrose oil is a natural, mild anti-inflammatory agent that has been widely used to hasten cervical ripening and shorten labor. Researchers at the Holistic Women's HealthCare Birth Center in Wilmington, Delaware set out to test whether it really works. Their findings were published in the Journal of Nurse-Midwifery in May/June 1999. They found that evening primrose oil does nothing to shorten gestation or improve labor. Instead they found an increase of premature rupture of membranes (and increased infection risk), oxytocin augmentation, arrest of descent, and vacuum extraction. Evening primrose oil does have other valid uses, but I do not recommend it while pregnant.

I'm glad the mom asked! Just because something is natural, it doesn't mean that it is safe or effective.
Reply:I have heard this isnt safe at all and you can get really bad sickness and severe dehydration and diarrhea which you dont need to have in labour along will everything else. Many midwifes do not recommend this.Dont try!

I am planning to repaint my lounge and my wife has just brought some new curtains what colours would you ?

suggest I use. The curtains are an off white with dark green leaves and primrose flowers. Any suggestions ?? Its a rather high ceiling.

I am planning to repaint my lounge and my wife has just brought some new curtains what colours would you ?
Green can be tricky. If it's too dark of a green it can rob a space of light and feel too dungeon/deep-forest-like. And with lighter greens, if you aren't careful with the shade you may end up with something that reminds you of a hospital (like if there are too many blues making a more minty 70's color).

But I would probably suggest a very light green. another option to consider is to maybe use something more neutral and then use pillows and other accent items in your room to add colors that tie in with the curtains's colors.

You can also use sites like this one to test out various color pallets and ideas: http://www.colourlovers.com/

Maybe a super pale green (probably even paler) like this:

http://www.colourlovers.com/color/E5F5D5... (maybe too much yellow?) or

http://www.colourlovers.com/color/D1E6CE...

Would look good if there are say crisp white window or wall framings.

This is probably as dark as I'd go with green - which is fairly dark:

http://www.colourlovers.com/color/A0C38B...

And perhaps a beige-ish neutral that may have the smallest bit of green in it (this may still have too much green):

http://www.colourlovers.com/color/C0C4A9...

But generally speaking I would say you want to consider that the curtains are mostly? off white with a pattern with strong colors. I don't think you want walls too light/too similar to the off white of the curtains - where the background of the curtains fades into the walls. What happens then is that the curtains' patterns will be blaring out.

Instead, I think you want a color / tone that lets you see the curtain as the vertical rectangle - as a whole - that they really are. Green is such a strong color that even very light shades of it will contrast nicely with the off white of the curtains. And if you go too dark with green then the contrast is too much - too stark I think. Too jarring.

And with the neutral / beige-ish color I think you would need to go a little darker towards the medium range of darkness like the link above - because if its super light - it may too much like the off white to really offset it. Though if I were to err anywhere I'd err on the side of too light rather than too dark.

Hope this helps.
Reply:How about a lighter shade of green ? You could even do very subtle stripes with 2 lighter shades of green .
Reply:i think it would look good if you paint it the color of the primrose flowers or the dark green that the leaves are.
