Hi:
Primrose are a beautiful flower specimen. They will die out in cold weather. You will need to protect them in the pot if you have a chance of frost. If your temperature stays above the freezing mark, you should be fine. If you have some sunny and warm days, you can set your Primrose out during the day to allow the plant to adjust to the outside environment. I do this a lot in the early spring months. I put the plants out during the day and bring them in at night, if there is a threat of cold weather.
Your Primrose should do well as long as temperatures don't get too cold. If you plan on putting the Primrose into the ground, it will spread. I had some Primrose in a specific garden and over the next few years, it spread throughout other areas of the property.
I hope this has helped some. I will link you to the site map of my website. Browse through and see if you can find any other information that may help you with your Primrose or any other plant specimen. There are a variety of topics and many photos. Good luck to you and have a great day!

Can I put primroses in a pot outside now or do I have to wait until spring ?
you can put them out now my primroses are in flower
Reply:i am in brighton and i have primroses in my area. go ahead. especially in the south coast we seem to get better gardening conditions, better temperatures than the rest of the country. although with petrol at 107.9 a litre we also get the highest cost of living too. tit for tat i suppose.
good luck.
Reply:Primroses are a hardy perennial, so no probs with putting them out now, and if you plant them direct into the soil, birds permitting, they should come every year.
Reply:They are doing fine outside in the Midlands, on a sandy soil - plants from previous years have been in bloom for 3 weeks now and my new ones planted a couple of weeks ago have suffered no ill effects from the light frosts we've had since planting.
If you live in a frost pocket, you may want to wait till after the first weekend in March - I've found that if the icy weather is going to have a real final blast, that's the one it seems to pick!
Reply:Primroses are totally hardy here, especially in the south and will easily stand frost, ice and snow.Go to a garden centre in the autumn and you will see plugs of prims for sale to plant outside then. They grow wild in uk.Leaves are there all year round and flowers appear now in spring.
Reply:I am envious
I have 2 feet of snow outside my window
Reply:you can stand them out in the sunshine during the day but bring them back in at night as frost will kill them. At the moment i'm putting mine all out in the sunshine during the day and bring them all ina round four when it starts to get much colder. This way they gradually climatise themselves to outside temperatures (hardening off). Good luck with them.
Reply:depends which part of the world you are. right now i think its warm enough to start planting things - there are lots of flowers in bloom at the moment.
