I'm on a type of birth control where I am only supposed to get my period once every four months but I have been taking several types of herbs and I just wanted to know if I should discontinue taking any. Please don't leave rude comments. I tried calling my doctor but havn't been able to reach her. Here are what I have been taking.
Evening primrose oil
Fenugreek
saw palmetto
milk thistle
dandelion root
fennel seed
Will any of these herbs cause me to have my period?
I'm confused as to what your question is. Are you taking these because you are trying to make yourself have a period more than every 4 months, or are you taking these for an unrelated reason and are asking if they will interfere with the way the pill works? You did the right thing by calling your doctor, only she will be able to give you the answer you are looking for since she knows your history. Good luck.
Reply:You should always let your Doctor know of any supplements you are taking, so I do hope you can contact yours as soon as possible. As far as the herbs you listed, you should know be aware that:
Evening Primrose Oil: provides support for PMS. Fenugreek: may help w/constipation, diabetes, reduce cholesterol, relieves diarrhea, eases minor indigestion, soothes sore throat pain and coughs.
Saw Palmetto: used for Men's prostate function, urinary health.
Milk Thistle: maintains a healthy liver function.
Dandelion Root: will increase urine flow.
Fennel Seed: alleviates gas, relieves colic.
Please do not take anything without first researching what they are used for and don't over do it with the supplement's as they can interfere with your prescribed medicine. Hope this helps you a little, good luck and please take care.
Reply:Hi,
I myself am into natural Healing.I would
suggest that you go to the GNC web site. And ask them this question. However to my knowledge these do not cause that.
