I am taking 2 evening primrose, 1 cod liver oil and 1 multivitam tablet a day. Is this ok to do?
Thnx
Is it ok to take these?
In general, yes..... but maybe no.
The #1 thing you should verify first is the amount of Vitamins A and D that are in the Cod Liver Oil and the Multivitamin. Make sure that the combined total of A between both isn't more than 10,000 IU (and it's preferred that Beta Carotene be the Vitamin A in the multi) and not more than 800-1,000 IU of Vitamin D.
Both Vitamins A and D are fat-soluble, so they can build up in your system... that's why you want to make sure you don't get too much daily. Also, you'll want to make sure you don't get too much Vitamin A as it is... that can add to the problem.
Aside from that, you're perfectly fine on the rest.
Reply:you know mulltivitiams dont do anything right... there is such a small amount of each vitimum that it doesnt benefit you at all.. its a myth, honest. You are better off finding out which vitimums you need the most and taking those ones...
Sounds like what you are taking is fine though
Reply:Yes, they are all just vitamins or supplements.
Reply:yep i'm sure is ok 2 take them
Reply:I take a lot of vitamins, minerals and herbs each day, and those you've mentioned, shouldn't hurt you. Whenever I want to take something new, I introduce ONLY that one thing for at least 2 to 3 weeks before adding anything else. Somethings I've had adverse reactions to. If you add one thing at a time, you'll know in a short time whether it affects you or not.
Reply:You might want to check the combined vitamin A + D content of the cod liver oil and multi vitamin, as you might be getting too much. These vitamins can be toxic in excess.
Reply:Sounds fine to me.
Reply:can't see why not.
Reply:yes should be fine your body will only take in what it needs and get rid of anything that it doesn't should be fine
will be about 3 weeks until you may feel a benefit from these so be patient
Reply:why not?
Reply:yes thats fine, as long as youre not doubling up on tablets, like taking a multi-vitamin with iron then taking iron tablets also, then its ok
Reply:There is no medical reason not to take them but you would be better off getting the vitamins from fresh fruit and veg. . Evening primrose does not work for all women.
Cod liver oil is wonderful for joints and has also been clinically proven to have a positive effect on heart and brain, as well as helping to nourish skin, hair, and nails.
