I was wondering if the herbal stuff and vitamin suppliments are decreasing my cervical fluid along with my chances of getting pregnant. I take TONNES of herbs and vitamins. Is there some list of things I shouldnt take so I can get pregnant along with things i SHOULD take? Please let me know if you need a detailed list of what I take.
ok here is what I take on a daily basis:
Primrose Oil
Vitamins C, BComplex
Calcium
Iron
Seratatia Peptise (for scar tissue)
Maca Root
Prenatal Vitamins
Flaxseed Oil
Cranberry Extract
Zinc
Folic Acid
I think that is it.
Need the advice of someone who knows herbs really well!!?
I am a great believer in nutritional supplements including vitamins, minerals and herbs. I didn't see anything that raised any red flags. So I did some net research. To my surprise some of the pro-medicine sites have some positive comments about the use of some herbs pre-, during and post-pregnancy. If you want to educate yourself more visit the links below. I am not recommending any of then but believe that people should make their own educated choices for as much available information as possible.
The only good information I found on the issue of cervical fluid is contained in http://www.friendsandfamilies.com/ttc/ch... for charting ovulation.
Have fun reading, good luck with the pregnancy, and here's wishing you a very happy baby.
PS: I think it's commendable that you are trying to give your body the best possible combinations to facilitate the conception and birth of a healthy child.
Reply:I find it worrying that you are taking as many vitamin supplements as you have listed. Especially noting the number of non-water soluble vitamins like the B complex compounds.
It is possible, and getting more common these days, to overdose on vitamins. Talk to your obstetrician about your vitamin intake because an overdose on B vitamins and Iron and Calcium and Zinc and Folic Acid could cause issues with your pregnancy.
Also, since none of those herbs have been studied for their effects on pregnant women and their unborn babies you might want to reconsider taking them at all. Herbs are drugs, albeit unrefined.
The "All-Natural is Safe" mantra if the alt med industry is nonsense. There are plenty of all natural substances that can harm you. Tobacco is not safe to smoke no matter what chemicals a cigarette company doesn't spray on it. You sure as heck don't want to eat hemlock, belladona, nightshade, toadstools, etc.
Ditch the herbs to be safe. At the very least make sure your obstetrician knows what you are taking and ask her/him to find out if these herbs are safe for your baby.
Good luck, and good health to you and your child.
Reply:You're OD-ing on B vitamins for one thing.
I would also lay off the Iron UNLESS you have chronic anemia.
I'd trim it down to this:
Prenatals have loads of essential nutrients, along with a good Cal-Mag-Zinc supplement, Vitamin C (cranberry based), and the flaxseed.
Reply:Why are you taking all this? Most is already in your prenatal vitamin already.
Is you diet so bad that you need these supplements?
How bout you just start eating a correct diet and getting exercise.
