Please help, only people who have experience with Evening Primrose please. Is this normal?

Today I went to see my midwife and she told me to start using Evening Primrose tonight vaginally (I am 39 + 1 today) to help soften and ripen my cervix. A month ago when I was checked I was 50% effaced and not dialated. She told me to insert two capsules vaginally at night and to take one orally in the morning. Tonight when I went to insert the first capsule, I was really tender and had to pull the capsule out before it was even in all the way. When I looked at it, I noticed blood at the tip of it. Since then there has been no more blood. Does anyone have any idea why there was a little blood. I will of course call and talk to my midwife when she is available, but I'm a little freaked out right now. Please help. Oh, and in case it matters, I have been in prodromal labor for a week or so and the last few days I have experienced a few really strong irregular contractions, but the closest they've gotten recently is 6 minutes apart and then gone away.

Well I never took while pregnant. But the bleeding and tenderness tells me you are going to have your bay really really soon. If you haven't had anymore signs of blood don't worry it is just becuase she probably checked you which means she touched your cervix and so there would be some blood. The tenderness is probably due to the prodromal labor. I'm sorry though I know what you are going through and you probably wish you could have him now. It will be soon!
