No like I want to go into labor today but isn't there some things I can be doing to soften my cervix and prepare my body for labor...Any stories on anything any of you women did to help you in your late pregnancy??? I did Evening Primrose oil with my 2nd child and she came 9 days early as healthy as they come.
Im into my 36th week of being pregnant , is there anything that I can be doing to speed things up???
I must say that I gave birth 12 days early. I had just started my maternity leave and I was sitting at home watching Last Comic Standing when this comedian started his skit... I couldn't stop laughing. I was crying from laughing so hard. I think a few hours later (3 hrs, maybe 4), my water broke and labor started. So my advice is to LAUGH A LOT!!!!!
Reply:I was 9 days late and I was walking 45 minutes on the treadmill every day, did prenatal yoga, had sex, and ate hot curry. I had been taking it really easy, other than the 45 minute workouts, but I started getting so anxious the last couple of days, not wanting to be induced, that I stopped napping and couldn't sleep at night at all. That made my labor a lot harder because I was physically exhausted starting out. I still did great but I had a bit of pitocin about 30 minutes before she was born to help her down the birth canal. Anyway, the day I had sex my mucus plug started falling out. The night before that I had hot curry. I wouldn't recommend that because 2 days later when I finally did go into labor I spent hours in the bathroom emptying my bowels and well, you know how that can be. At least I didn't go poo poo during delivery. My water broke in my yoga class. But I still don't really know if any of that really helped. Evening primrose softens the cervix, which is the first step before effacing and dilating. Sounds like it helped for you the first time. Good luck!
Reply:The evening primrose oil is good, drink some red raspberry leaf tea every day- honestly, after 37 weeks I drink about six cups a day- it doesn't hurt even when it doesn't help; keep busy, keep exercising. Have extra sex (against those weeks right after when you'll want none :)...there are other things to tone the uterus but you should really get that info from your midwife, who knows your particular pregnancy better.
Reply:I think every woman that has been in those last few weeks of pregnancy can sympathize with you! There was nothing that any of us wouldn't do to try to move the process along. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if anything has been 100% proven to help, but I know a lot of women swear by their strategies. I can tell you that I had lots and lots of sex in those last few weeks. At best, I ended up being 1 centimeter dilated and a little soft before my induction. Best of luck to you! And I hope that you get some helpful ideas here.
Reply:you have a month left! why rush things? i have 4 kids and i know the waiting game sucks but why risk having a preemie thats tiny with health problems if you dont have to? let nature take its course and let your baby gain the weight it needs to and grow as he needs to you will thank yourself in the long run when your baby is born healthy and strong due to being inside the womb as long as he/she needed to be good luck with your bundle of joy and be patient he/she will be here sooner then you think....lol
Reply:What worked for me is alot of walking, I walked all the time everyday! ( keeping hydrated of course and walking in moderation) In my backyard, around the block ect. That worked for me ,but everyone is different so I hope it works for you too! :) Good luck and Best wishes for you and your new baby to come!
Reply:HORROR MOVIES!!!
I dont know if its a myth or wonder however I watched one in my 36th week and my one decided to come 19 days early :S
Walking is DEFINITELY the best thing!! My first and only labour was only 56 minutes :D Would do it again anyday!! x
Reply:Walking and sex. Hey, even if it doesn't work, you'll have fun!
Oh, I mean walking, then sex. Not at the same time. Although that might really help . . .
Reply:I tried it all, pineapple, hot curry, etc. Nothing helped. That baby's coming when its ready. Good luck with it!
Reply:I did alot of walking, especially with my 2nd. That seemed to help her come a little earlier.
Reply:I know walking helps. And my crazy co-worker here said she had sex and that night her 2nd child was born.Good Luck.
Reply:haha my mum was like that :)
