I am having a hard time thinning out but no problem at all dialating . Some girl at my husbands work told him to get me prim rose oil and insert it vaginally . I was wondering will this make me contract or just make me thin out . Will it also make my water break ? i ma scared i am already a 3+ dialted but when i was checked last wensday i was not effaced the cervix was just very soft .
Has anyone used PrimRose oil ?
Yup, I took it to help move labor along. If you are already 3cm dialted your on your way there. Just keep walking - try primrose if you want and insert vaginally like the coworker said. But, sounds to me like your going to be in full fledged labor real soon.
(NO NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS FROM PRIMROSE. It's a natural remedy, an herb. I even asked my nurse in labor and delivery she said it was perfectly safe and much more effective than castor oil.)
PS: Don't wish for your water to break!!! It's like a pillow saving you the pain of contractions. During contractions the baby's head gets pushed into your pelvis - EXTREMELY painful! But, the water absorbs it.
Reply:Wow! Three jobs! He sounds like a good hubby and daddy-to-be! Hopefully whatever you doctor does it will speed up your labor. If nothing else try the primrose...you've got nothing to loose :)) Good Luck! Report It
Reply:i wouldn't use any kind of home remedy at all. just let nature take its course. there are probably negative effects to using primrose oil. just let god do what he does best!!! don't take things into your own hands. if need be, i'm sure your dr has something up his sleeve to help you efface.
Reply:My ob-gyne also prescribed Primrose Oil which I have taken orally when I reached my 37th week of pregnancy. Yup it will just help in softening your cervix but it will not really caused complete dilation, it will not cause breakage of your water bag, it will NOT cause contraction. In my case for instance, after taking Primrose Oil for about a week my ob-gyne checked on me and I was told that my cervix was already very soft but my cervix was only 1cm dilated. It went on like that...I didn't contract until I reached my 38th week.
Primrose Oil will only help in softening your cervix but contraction results only when the inside of your uterus begins to push the baby out. Its actually the hormone being released by the uterus that causes contraction. So even if the cervix is completely softened (because of the help of Primrose Oil) but no contraction of the uterus occurs, dilation is impossible!
I was confined in the hospital for 3 days because my ob-gyne tried to induce a vaginal delivery but to no avail. I didn't have contraction, I felt no pain inspite of all drugs injected on me. Only on the third day that my ob-gyne declared a "failed induction of labor". It meant that its impossible to have a vaginal delivery because dilation did not occur ( i was still 1cm dilated).....I gave birth thru Cesarian delivery.
