Am i having too many vitamins?
Water soluble vitamins (ie. B vitamins) are excreted in urine, so it's hard to cause toxicity. What happens is too much of one may impact another. This may be the case with too much Mg - it may negatively impact Calcium. That would be my concern. Any reason you are taking excess Mg? Beware that taking vitamins / supplements are only when you are deficient - ie. Ca supplements would be beneficial if you never consume dairy. However, once you have adequate amounts, taking extra doesn't make things better. For example, B vitamins are necessary for metabolism, but once you have enough taking more B vitamins doesn't make your metabolism faster - you just excrete the extra out.

Reply:Possibly too many extras, One a day multi should cover it with a balanced diet.
Reply:i have worked summers/weekends at holland and barrett health store for over 4 years now and am training to become a dentist, and you are definitely not taking to many vitamins. all the supplements you are taking are for different ailments within the body; the cranberry and milk thistle are herbal products and definitely do not need owrrying about. chances are in your multivit (a to z) there are low doses anyway, so taking a b complex alongside is prob a good idea, as are the oils. in my opinion it's worse to stop taking the supplements then to take the amount you are. hope that helps you.
Reply:I don't think so, but there is a point where you can be taking too many vitamins and it is harmful to your body instead of helpful.
Reply:Talk to your doctor about it. If the body takes in too much of something, it will turn into waste. For example, if you take in too much protein, it will go out of your body as a waste product.
Reply:it depends on how much you eat throughout the day because uneccessary vit are just going to go through your urine without any beneficial value and if you seem that you have gained weight with All the vitamins your taking i would stop taking a few because vitamins seem to increase your apetite at least it does to me,
Reply:I don't think so but ask your Dr.
Reply:Because it looks like you are taking some herbal supplements as well, I would suggest consulting your doctor just to make sure none of them will react badly with each other.
Reply:Your A to Z will cover your daily allowance of B vitamins...taking a B complex isn't necessary and is actually wasting money if you haven't been diagnosed with a deficiency. As far as magnesium supplements, deficiency in healthy individuals is very rare and a high magnesium level can cause arrythmias of the heart and even lead to cardiac arrest. Evening primrose and milk thistle have no proven benefit. Cod liver oil and a cranberry pill could be harmless to you but you have to have your doctor evaluate if you are truly in need or have an indication for taking these. By the way, most herbals are not studied for drug interactions so if you're taking any prescriptions, even birth control, you're taking a risk with your health.
