Which is better for acne high strenght evening primrose oil or vitamin E. I have put on so much weight with E

I started to suffer with severe acne after I stopped breast feeding. I tried everything from retin A to accutane which did not work. Only antibiotics minocycline worked but i cannot be on antibiotics forever then I someone told me about Evening Primrose Old and miraculously it has cleared my skin and balanced my hormones. The only downside is that I can't stop eating and have put on 1 stone in 4 weeks. I am too scared to stop incase my acne comes back but I do not want the weight gain. I am now waking up at 5.00 am in the morning starving looking for a bite to eat. I am thinking of switching to a high strenght vitamin E or reducing to 500 mg only of EPO. I am taking only 1 tablet in the morning of EPO 1000mg. Should I change to vitamin E or are there any options to stop the hunger cravings? What is it in the EPO that makes the skin clear. The version I have is from Holland and Barrett - 1000 mg and 95 GLA and it also contains Vitamin E. Any advice. Thanks.

I am afraid controlled studies on both these preparations have failed to show that they are helpful in acne.
Reply:1000mg a day of primrose oil, my skin was like a pizza base, yeah i still have the scars but there is not a spot in sight... vitamin e is good for scars though... i don't however think it's what's causing you to be hungry.... i'd get advice from a pharmacist if i were about your suspicions of the EPO, doesn't sounds right....
Reply:Tea tree oil is supposed to be good. You get it in a small bottle from somewhere like Asda in the medicine section, and then dilute it with water - about a teaspoon per two cups of water, and then wash your face in it.
Reply:Vitamin a, but only in a controlled way. Vitamin a dries out the skin in high doses, take it as a prescribed medicine , failing that a sunbed works.
Reply:I have really bad acne too what is this primrose old? and where can I get it? I was accutane too. It worked for me but I need another treatment and can't afford it.
Reply:I would not suggest taking the actual vitamin, rather apply the actual oil to your face before going to bed at night.
