Im 38 wks prego and i am not able to do the things to help labor, suggestions?

I am 38 weeks pregnant, and miserable.. i am a small framed person and the baby is larger than i thought she would get, so as you can imagine, its a wee bit agonizing when she gets to moving and everything. The baby has dropped all the way and i am dialated 1cm. I am not with the babys father, or anyone else for that matter, so having sex isnt much of an option. the castor oil thing didnt work, and ive been takin evening primrose oil capsuels for the past 3 weeks. and on top it all off i have been walking almost 2 miles everyday and still no such luck with bringing on my labor. just severe back pains random contraction bruised ribs and worn out nerves! my doctor had intially talked about inducing me at 38 weeks because of my size and the size of the baby but now he has decided that he will not induce until i am 42 weeks. honestly i do not know how much longer i can handle this! So if you have any advice, PLEASE let me know! Id really appreciate it! Thank you!!!!!

Well looks like you've pretty much tried plenty to get things started. Though it is not recommended to do the caster oil, but I"m not one to tell people what to not do when they feel fit to do it.

The nipple thing, you'd have to sit there for hours and it'll end up hurting mroe than helping as I'm told. I've had several people tell me they tried it and ended up with sore redened nipples and no baby in view. Cause you ahve to do it for hours and hours..so... not on my list when it comes down to pushing baby out.

I walked with both my first two kids, I mean really walked, just went out and walked everyday, I also kept moving around the house, I was full of engery the last couple of weeks and went early with both of them. You said you already tried walking so you can keep it up, baby will come out when he's ready too, not jsut caus eyou tell him too. Remember that when you start getting a bit unnerved with no show.

Try and realx, I know, better said than done, sorry. Keeping yoru mind and hands busy may relax you and the day may fly right by without you sitting around waiting for some sort of sign of helping labor begin. There's so many ways people say bring labor on, and not all work for others, mostly cause the baby will indeed not come out until he/she will want too. I'd say keep your chin up, keep up with walking, drink plenty of water, put your feet up when you can and ..honestly...(sorry , sorry to say it) enjoy the time before baby comes even if it is another week or so. As uncomfortable as you are, and I know trust me... let nature take it's time and in the end your be so busy smiling over your baby you won't think about how long it took for them to make their way out.

Hope something helps, take care of yourself, try not to stress if you can and relax while you can also. Enjoy, and Congrats!
Reply:Sounds like me. I am so fed up with being pregnant it is unbelievable . I am also 38 weeks. I guess all we have left to do is wait.. Which sucks. My doctor did say she would induce me this weekend if I was dilated to a 1 but I am not so I have to wait another week. My lungs are killing me (also a small person) and I cant sleep. I heard that inducing wont really work until the baby is ready. So yeah :( good luck.
Reply:Oh, you poor thing. I hate that for you. Unfortunately, your baby will probably not come until it is good and ready. I've heard all of the things that supposedly bring on labor are usually a coincidence. However, my advice would be to go to your local YMCA and join a Moms in Motion prenatal water aerobics class. The pool feels great on sore muscles and an aching back, it's calming for those frazzled nerves, and the exercise just might bring something on. I really enjoyed going to mine. Just try to remember, this too shall pass. Good luck with your new precious baby girl. She will get here, eventuallly!
Reply:i kno this sounds bad but i had great sex with hubby and in the morning i went into labor.
Reply:Why are you rushing? When the baby is ready, she will come out. You do not want to rush it, even though you are tired of being pregnant (we all are at the end). The healthiest thing you can do is sit and wait. All pregnancies are horrible at the end and you just want it over with, but do not play God. She will come when she is ready, until then relax and hang tight. Good luck.
Reply:nipples yes... that didn't work for me.. sex hunny... have an orgasam... i know it may seem vulgar, but it's true.. orgasam contracts the uterus.. and if you are far enough along, then this should help... that's what my doctor told me. it worked.. i was miserable too... walking wont help...

good luck
Reply:Babies will come when they come I dont believe in self inducing but you could try rubbing your nipples for 15 minutes I have heard that helps/
Reply:When I took a lamaze class they said that stimulating your nipples can bring about labor.............
