I've tried everything to help start labor, what else is there? THANK YOU!?

I do not want my membrains swept or to have pitocin. I am 41 wks and my belly button timer has popped long ago.

This is what I have done, recommended by my midwife from first 2 kids, my new midwife and some friends.

1. I have eaten bags of black licorice-

(just felt sick)

2. I have eaten lots of fresh pineapple-

(again sick and then gassy too lol)

3. Black %26amp; blue cohosh-

(threw up all day)

4. Razz tea

(nothing happened)

5. Evening primrose oil-

(3 oral- 2 vag)

6. Nipple stimulating-

(my husband got a few smiles out of it)

7. Sex, Sex, and more SEX!-

(OK.... Sooo we both smiled a bit) *wink*

8. Eggplant-

(full tummy)

9. Massage pressure points-

(at least I learned where they were)

10.Spicy, Hot, hot, hot foods-

(Not a liar, pants were... ON FIRE!)

11. Castor oil and OJ-

("HOLY COW" I nearly blew out my O-ring!!) sorry ;)

12. Massage-

(very relaxing)

13. Bumpy road-

(one pissed off bladder)

14. Enema-

(need i say more?)

15. Give up

(drank lots of water)

I've tried everything to help start labor, what else is there? THANK YOU!?
Have you tried patience?
Reply:ok.. heres what i did. I mowed the ditch with a push mower. Took a shower,,, went out dancing with some friends and the baby was born at ten o'clock the next morning. GOOD LUCK!!!!
Reply:sex

walking

any physical activity.. you want gravity to take control
Reply:If you've done all that, then I guess the answer would be obvious by this point. You CAN'T do anything, but wait.
Reply:I would find a doula or childbirth educator who can show you the pressure points on your ankles and hands so you can massage them (or hubby can). Also, a good pregnancy massage or trip to your chiropractor sounds like it would help. And above all, RELAX. Our emotions play a big part in our going into labor. Give yourself permission to say "bring it on" and it just might start.

Birth blessings to you.
Reply:Poor you, I think this little one is making up her/his own mind when they are coming out. My sister went for a big long walk a couple of days before, mind you, it gave her very swollen ankles (I went with her and felt awful guilty, I admit it, I 'pushed' her a little hard - Oh, the shame of it!).

Good luck.
Reply:Your baby is not going to come until it's darn good and ready. Maybe this suggestion might help: Plan a big evening out (one where you gussy up quite a bit) with your husband. Invite some friends to go along. Precious little babies like to come at the most inopportune times! Catch my drift................
Reply:Spend a lot of time Swinging on a swing set and take long walks.

My friend says since its October go to a haunted house...Those things scare everything out of her..lolol
Reply:I know you said you tried presure points but...there is a presure point two finger lengths above your ankle, press on it for a minute or two. This was suggested by my childbirth class instructor (just in passing, not during the class), and the next morning my water broke.
Reply:I was going to suggest the castor oil, but you tried already.

What I did to get things going was have sex and then take a bath for about 2-3 hours. Make sure the water is as hot as you can handle without burning yourself. With in hours I was contracting.

*I had to hurry and give birth before my mother in law got back in town, she wanted to be in the room and I didn't know how to say NO!*
Reply:This is insane -- you do realize that if you wait too long because you "don't want" something, could put you or your baby at risk right? Women and children DIED in childbirth years and years ago A LOT because of not enough medical -- WE HAVE DOCTORS AND THEY DO A GOOD JOB NOW.......
Reply:The only thing I didn't see on you list was walking.

Some of the other things I can't believe a midwife would recommend like an enema, cohosh, and castor oil. (Castor Oil does NOT help induce labor, that's an old wives' tale. It causes abdominal cramps that can be mistaken for labor and can make the fetus sick. I'd like to smack the midwife who told you that)

Edit: A hot bath is bad for the baby too! Please please, just wait!
Reply:That's it, you've done it all. Just one more example to all the women out there that if your body isn't ready, no amount of trying will force it to happen.

And next time, stay away from the castor oil! ;)

Hang in there, baby will be here soon enough! Good luck!
Reply:time does the talking
Reply:had 6 kids and can tell you its up to God.
Reply:i went for a walk for about 20Min's all up but i did it at night and then i started my contractions and then my waters broke about 4 hours later so i would suggest walking and i have told another lady that i know to do this and this worked that same night it happened to her good luck

Reply:have you tried going for a walk

you can thank me later with the 10 points
Reply:i saw that you tried castor oil already...my lil sister drank it and went into labor that night!

she had a boy!!! oct 5
Reply:at least u haven't lost your sense of humour ! when i was overdue with my son, i was a total grouch.

the only method that is medically proven to bring on labour is to have sex, which i notice u have already tried....

i wish i could suggest something else hon, but u have already come up with ideas that i have never even heard of !

good luck with it all. hope that baby decides to put in an appearance soon. x

Reply:I HAVE A DAUGHTER WHO IS NOW 10 YEARS OLD. I WAS ALREADY DUE AND MY OB-GYNE DIDN'T WANT THE BABY TO GET ANY BIGGER BECAUSE OF MY SMALL FRAME. SO SHE DECIDED TO "STRIP" ME(STIMULATED THE CERVIX). SHE TOLD ME TO PREPARE MY MATERNITY BAG AND NOT TO STAY TOO FAR FROM A HOSPITAL BECAUSE SHE GUARANTEED ME A DELIVERY WITHIN A FEW HOURS AFTER. SURELY I DID GO INTO LABOR. I GOT TO THE HOSPITAL AT 1:30 AM AND THE BABY WAS OUT AT 3 AM. I HOPE EVERYTHING GOES WELL WITH YOU. GOOD LUCK!
Reply:have more sex
Reply:Wow, I think you've just about done it all!! I would just wait and relax. Try to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.
Reply:I like number six. That is funny. lol. Walking helps.
Reply:I read if you hook your self up to a breast pump it really works.
