Evening primrose?

Anyone used it? Did it help to soften your cervix?

Evening primrose?
I tried and It did nothing. But all women are different. It may work for you.....but I would just wait it out if you are not past 40 weeks....the baby will come when she is ready.
Reply:Never ever heard of that. But anything with a name that sounds that creepy, probably shouldnt be used to on your body and in regards to your unborn child.
Reply:I tried it...... never did work I had to be induced at the hospital!
Reply:Many midwives use it.

But then in my Mayo Clinic book it says with little success compared to prescribed methods.

It also says not to use it before 37 weeks.

Personal history of knowledge:

My Aunt used it with all 3 of her pregnancies by 39 1/2 weeks and she was in labor with in 2 days. This was over 20 years ago. She swore by it and told my mother * Everyone infact who was pg at the time..... also in stores uggg*. But my mom had me at 31 weeks so she never got to try it.

I did not try it. My Aunt was in Alaska and I was scared to use the wrong amount. So at my docs appt i asked about it. They scraped me and said it would work as well.

Bottom line if you choose to use something that your doctor does not give you..you must be ready for nothing to happen or the worst possible thing to happen.
Reply:I havent used it yet, but there gonna put me in the hosptial monday and use it on me and then there gonna put me on drip. so hopefully it works. Im past my due date though... so im not sure when its safe to take it!
Reply:i have heard that it has worked just like blue cohosh does . I wouldn't take it unless your already dilated and are at least in your 39th week close to your 40'th unless your like dilated to a 3
